Im not sure if you have picked a colour scheme but being married to a Dutch woman I know how much the Dutch love Orange. I personally like this colour scheme Thanks for that. Orange never really entered my mind, but i have two people ganging up on me wanting it to be classic red, white and black colours.

make that 3 for the classic red, black and white I always used to go over to Holland for queens day (the birthday not a drag artist meet up ) ended up buying a orange Dutch football shirt to join in , it would always be a great laugh and guaranteed hangover the next morning mart

Today i managed to get one of those niggling little jobs done. I finally got the top fairing stays made and the fairing is now finally fixed in position.
I forgot to make some pictures, luckily Curly from this forum made a couple.

Again work is getting in the way of this build making it a slow project. I am now concentrating on the cooling system. I managed to borrow a larger radiator to see if it will fit the Bakker bike. The radiator on the left is my first attempt and the one on the right the borrowed radiator. It seem to be about 50 to 60% bigger. As you can see in the picture below It will need modifying but these mods are not too difficult to do. It is a bit of a squeeze but it does fit and it could also be a bit longer, but for now it's just a test fit. I have also been told that another alternative could be a GSXR 1000 radiator. I will try to get my hands on one for a measure up as the internet has not given up any dimensions yet. I would love to just pay someone to make a custom radiator but they seem too expensive compared to altering a new standard Jap radiator. Another problem is the temperature sensor supplied by the tachometer manufacturer is too long to screw into the cylinder head fitting. To be honest i don't like the position as its at the entrance of the cylinder head. With the angle of the engine in the frame the temperature sensor hole will make a good place for the de-airation pipe to the radiator. I have now made up all the part to place the sensor just after the engine giving a more accurate temperature reading. I just have to get them welded up. Oh well onwards and upwards

Would 2 smaller rads work? One on each side of the frame?

Would 2 smaller rads work? One on each side of the frame? Alex Hi Alex, ideally i want to have 1 radiator, but i have thought about two. This could be something like the original radiator i have and a small mini bike radiator to fit in the bottom part of the fairing. Too much radiator means extra weight and i'm trying to keep it light as possible.

Hi , no the bike was broken a couple of years ago . I think the chap who bought the engine had the wheels and the electrics cdi ect . I think the frame was cut up and put in a metal skip . A bit of a sad ending to somebody's dream. Sad ending yes , it was a hand full to ride and you needed to remember the gear change , 1st was up the rest were down . My mate Gordi bought it years ago as a non runner the one cylinder was goosed so it was a full strip and build . He rode it to the iom tt one year and the head gasket went while we were there .Got back ok and when i pulled the head all was well piston and cylinder wise due to decent 2 stroke oil and me gutting the thermostat. He rode it here and there for a while and it got parked up for a time not being used so he decided to sell it. It was in practical sports bike at one time with some other specials . Looking forward to seeing yours up and running .

It’s always the little bits took me ages to sort the cooling system on mine just because of finding the rights fittings etc. However frustrating they may be I also like the challenge of them. Can’t wait to see this finished, decision made around colour scheme yet Tony?

Can’t wait to see this finished, decision made around colour scheme yet Tony? No not yet Tim. It will be some kind of classic red ,white and black and a fake racing team. I really want an angry fast looking tobyjug for an emblem. Not found anything on the net but i have just sorted a set of carbs for a Yamaha 750 and the owner has his own advertising company so fingers crossed he will be able to return the favour. In the meantime i might just make the tank white to match the fairings.

Once it is sorted and running, it might get carbon parts as i still want it lighter. It's now booked in with a suspension company for August, to overhaul and adjust the suspension to suit the bike and weight of rider.

Just a short update; Yesterday I went to HK suspension in Holland to get the suspension serviced and adjusted to suit the build. The process started off with a chat about the use of the bike and a cup of coffee, the bike was then measured up for sag etc how it came to the company. Once the measurement was done they just left and told me to help myself to the tools and remove the parts to be adjusted. Once i did that they collected the parts and went off to another workshop in the back of the premises and do their thing. Here it is naked and stripped.
The front Ohlins forks were found to be in good condition. The spring rate was lowered and the spacer length was also changed. These were given back first, so i fitted them whilst the back shock was checked and overhauled. They were not impressed by the back shock. It was a Maxton shock. They told me it was a nice shock for the road but not for circuit use. When i asked them about what they would suggest they recommend, i was told first get the bike out on the track and find the right ride height etc and then come back to them. The Maxton shock was checked over on a damping machine and a stronger spring was fitted. Once the bike was put back together the sag etc was all checked again. I had to remove the rear shock again and an even stronger spring was fitted and the damping was altered. The front fork internals were removed again and the length of the spacers were altered for a 2nd time. I made a joke about the fine tuning for the second time and the man said "no no you must do that on the track" All in all they were a friendly bunch and seemed to be very serious about their work. The only thing i didn't like was all the waiting around. Later in they day i learned they had two bikes for people to borrow, once they dropped their bike in. I am now on holiday so i should be able to get most of the bike finished now. Next on the list is Mk2 engine mountings Can anyone tell me what type of stand that is as i want one. They are very handy when you have a bike with underslung pipes. Up until now i have either been doing a juggling act or removing the pipes.

Hey Tobyjugs, bike is looking stunning! Glad you are spending time getting the suspension sorted, it will be well worth it. As far as the stand goes, it looks like an 'ABBA' stand, they are UK based abbastands.co.uk/HTH Mouse

On the track of Zandvoort i used 2018 to dial in my r6 shock and fazer forks. 2019 again with a stronger spring for the R6 shock. Static sag, road sag and track sag do differ a lot. Fortunately there is one corner near by which comes close to track use. 2021 i hope there are new opportunities again!
