Hi Scoter You are welcome. Would be worth checking your crank seals if the engine has stood idle for 10 years - just to be on the safe side Dusty

Hi Yamark kindly made my kit up for me using plumbing fittings. He is away at the mo so I cant ask exactly what he used, but I've taken a close up of the gauge so you may be able to see what's involved; 20180425_191956 by David Miller, on Flickr Some guys put the gauge elsewhere but this works well for me. Hi Its a shraeder valve of some description. Im not sure where from but you just attach your bike pump to it as normal. Even the gauge came from the plunbers merchant !

well Ive finally decided to put my fears behind me and build up my 2 lc engines from the Ikea kits I bought. Thanks to Dusty for his advice and pictures. There is also a youtube video in 4or 5 parts that were of help posted by JH tecj. RD350LC engine assembly which is worth a butchers. just take your time and dont be overwhelmed !

Nice thread Dusty, always good to have a reference when doing one in the future, lots of pics always helps. Engine stand is a neat idea too +1 for that

Hi There is a plate that fits behind the clutch and connects the two halves of the case. I will be refitting it as soon as I get some low strength Loctite. Hopefully today. There are enough bolts and studs holding the cases together, but general consensus is that it is a bearing retaining plate to help combat the sideways play on the gear shaft. Cheers Mark, hope you are ok bud Dusty Hi Appreciate old post :-) I noticed you reference low strength loctite did you use purple. Think book is saying blue but I am worried about next time having to strip the motor and those screws were a pain. Thanks

cheers thanks for that apologies for the basic questions but hopefully it will help others in the long run
Did you ever find the YPVS build you did? Be good to have just the top end rebuild sequences but appreciate it must take you ages to do but finding this post so valuable so thanks....
noticed a few things in the Haynes manual a little odd like selector forks... I would have thought left would be left on the motor like left cylinder but sure book is stating looking at the motor back left etc! might be me but very odd... will have to watch any more like that

I always think of left and right as if you were sitting on the bike facing forward !! So the clutch is on the right and the genny is on the left. Sounds obvious but... I dont think I did a thread on a complete Ypvs engine build - they've all been Lc and a 400e. I think I did a Ypvs bottom end only - they are virtually the same as an Lc anyway apart from the clutch actuation. A top end wont hold any problems once you've achieved the bottom end
