Steve what did it put out in the end mate? Do you have a chart? Last dyno run was on micks box of smog. I've not ran it for 2 years now so still never had a proper ignition map done or corrected the inlet heights to slingers spec It was slightly rich now and had v4 reeds fitted. It did 71 on his dinosaur which he said would equate to 76 in the real world I do have a chart, I'll try and dig it out and mail it to you Steve

This is an excellent thread, answered a lot of my 385 questions. Interestingly it doesn't come up on the seach facility, I found it by a link on another thread.
Steve.... at one point in this thread you mention doing similar with +7mm crank for 405cc set up, did you go ahead with that?

I did about 1000 miles on it over the couple of years after I built it but it's been sitting in the back of the shed for 4 years now as got lost in other projects Had the best of intentions and bought a new battery and a rear caliper seal kit as it is binding to put it on the road but got distracted finishing a hybrid, starting another and trying to get my TR up on its wheels Just nudge the kickstart a little every other time I'm out there to stop the rings sitting in the one place all the time Steve

Absolutely fantastic build. The best spec engine IMO .. credit too ya. It’s just the spec I’m looking to purchase but not managed to get my hands on one yet lol. Only been looking a year. Hahhaha.

I got arrow to rebuild the oil pump as it was passing oil so now fitted with new lines. Filled the delivery lines with a syringe to save having to start on premix Replaced the fuel lines as well The Pwk's fuel spigots are tight to the body so used LC fuel line from the T to each carb but the bigger feed to the T piece Also fitted a genuine clutch cable to see if it helped with the heavy action and clutch slip on changes A lot lighter now 😀 Steve

Carb time today
Wondered what 5 years of sitting would do?
The answer - feck all apparently
I'd only ever filled it with BP Super unleaded and always added added a glug of oil into the tank to protect the fuel tank
This and the fact it previously had the oil pump siphoning issue the only residue in the carbs is oil
Flushed the bowls and cleaned the main jet out just in case
Also fitted new pilot jets while I was in there
From day one it's had a machine gun stutter on neutral throttle around 3-4 k
On throttle it revved and ran clean so no flat spot. I'd started on 40's, then 38's then 36's which all reduced it
It was nearly gone on the 36's but I was 2.5 turns out on the air screws
I've now fitted 35's and set the air screw at 1.5 (36 was unheard of never mind 35 🤨)
The PWK pilot affects the whole range but it has been dyno'd safely rich and 1 size should be fine
The only other thing I've dine is raise the needle 1 setting so now on 2nd from bottom
My reason for this is that the motor runs at its hottest at 70-80mph on the motorway
It runs cooler thrashing through the gears or sitting at 90 so I wanted to richen the part throttle a bit
Going to change the rad grill as well as don't think the laser cut insert is helping
Time will tell

Changed vacuum line as well as didn't feel tight on the spigot All back together now 😁 Slotting the airbox cups helps a lot with carb removal with the 10mm spacers an v4 reeds Undo the 2 oil tank bolts then the one under the battery and it slides back a good 10mm Steve

I have a different mod. I found the airbox bellows restrictive. So I replaced them by alu stacks. Without moving the box i push the stacks futher in the box. Room enough.

I’m doing something similar and looks tight with the rgv mudguard and oversized radiator, the issue is the front end restricts the airflow. Jess

Jess Afraid the original doesn't fit ☹ Couple of issues 1st the thicker rad stops it going back far enough to mount Secondly it is quite bulky so restricts steering lock from memory Think I'm going to end up getting some mounting plates welded onto the rear outer edge so I can make end plates like a 3hm1 RZ250 and just use a mesh wrapped over a 4mm rod bent into a rectangle to mount to the end plates Steve

Cleaned the tank out yesterday I'd emptied it best I could last year then sprayed a load of wd40 into it No rust but a load of tiny flakes like shellac which I take it is from the old fuel. Only ever used BP super in it so no sign of any water. Just very red from the small amount of oil I add to each tank for corrosion protection. All back on the bike now with new tap. I bought a 1ua one as I don't really like how much the 29l one stick out through the side panel. I may get an allot knob made give a middle point between the two Fitted a re zinc'd swing arm pivot bolt and nut and a new hear change arm. The TZR stand had a bit of play so made up a spacer plate from a nice big stainless washer I had and fitted it behind the frame bracket so sitting better now Steve

Stuck some fuel in it and started it today Fired up no probs, idle a bit high but that will be the leaner jetting, I'll sort it later Need to change the oil but I want to see how the clutch behaves first Fitted a new carbon oil pump cover too Steve
