Hello welcome to the forum. Los palmos is a favourite place for me. I used to go there a lot for some Dutch fishing boats, and i think new years eve in Los Palmos is really good, the party never seemed to stop until about 08:00 on new years day. It probably went on longer but i always had to turn up for work. It's a pity they emptied the seas of Mauratania of fish. Now they go to Chile and it's not quiite the same there. Oh i almost forgot to say i love the Honey Rum as well

Or weld it up and prick a new hole in it.
I have the same stepped studs you mention but only to be used in emergency situations.

When i first joined this forum i was using a pair of 250 carbs on my 400cc engine and i jetted them to suit the engine. I did not know there were different types carbs for the models. It had the classic small stumble but was still making just over 70 PK. Then after reading about the different types of carbs on this forum i thought i needed to get a set of 31K carbs. The end result was a lot more jetting changes and again similar performance.
It did make me think why do lots of people say use the 31K carbs.
I have had problems where the carbs have not worked properly and i have changed them because basically they have been too small for the state of tune.

Tim your bike is lovely. I really like Greeves motorcycles, they made some really funky front ends which I really like.
When it comes too refreshing the mechanicals, it's a trip up to Mr Whattam for a big bore kit and a dry clutch 😉

That bike inspired me to build my 443. well I have the 443 engine on the shelf, along with all its ancillaries, last time out it ran 109bhp, so I might sling it in my YPVS rolling chassis for a giggle ! When I look at this fantastic creation it makes me wonder how big it is compared to Al's Tigcraft project. I find my bike a bit of a squash to fit on and it's roughly the same size as an LC. A real TZ 5K has even higher foot pegs. It just let's me know I'm not bendy and a bit too big for these bikes.

I've used a standard radiator (4L0) , a GMX as above and one from Norbo.
Norbo's radiator worked best.
The GMX radiator looks nice but doesn't work so well unless you are seriously making some speed. I ended up fitting side scoops to it to aid the cooling. I wouldn't recommend one.
If you have a standard radiator try that first or take a chance on a Chinese radiator or buy a slightly larger radiator from Norbo.

With the proceeds of the Honda and another race rep Suzuki he bought a real Honda 500 V twin gp bike in some boxes. It was raced by Cardoso 1999 It was a real ball ache to get some of the missing parts but earlier this year he tested it on a track for the first time. I was surprised at the size of the bike. Another surprise was my Bakker bike sounded identical to his bike. I wish i got a video of the bikes side by side revving them. ee That's got to be one very rare not to mention expensive bike. When you say surprised do you mean how small it is or large? I'm thinking small. Wasn't one of the main issues with them their over eagerness to wheelie? Yes definitely small, and wheelie wise I've only got pictures of him wheelieing every where in Assen last September. Price wise I'm not sure but it must be around the ton mark.

On the subject of 400cc motorcycles. Not so long ago I learned that Honda make a 400cc Vtec engined bike. On full chat it has a very distinctive noise. This is what priked my ears up about the model.

The trend seems to be moving more towards old off road bikes. I think LC Marky and Veg could be trend setters.

I know a few of these types of lads in Rotterdam. They seem to spend their money on looking good in that sort of Steve Mcqueen style only pottering about from one social place to another where they can be seen.
Each to their own i say.
Personally I think they should stop putting their back tyres on the front wheels to look cool.
I did some maintenance work on an old CB 750 for one of them. After that it scared him. He said it went too fast and the brakes were dangerous.
The reality was a boat would stop quicker before I got my hands on it, and it wouldn't rev out so it never went above 110 kmph in top gear.
Oh by the way he now has a new kawasaki 500 twin and he loves it. He said it's nice to drive. I resisted mentioning the tyres are in the right places.

It's normal to have a little blowback. The question is how much?
If it seems too much check your reeds It does no harm to check your reeds etc, helps you keep on top of maintenance and know your motorcycle.

Yes I think the RD is a lightweight block. I put the engine in built up. I just make sure all the bolts and plates etc are prepared and to hand. Wait to you do an old aicooled lump like a GS1000. It's easier to lift the bike over the engine. Done a GSXR1100 on my own. Engine out, onto the bench, head gasket change and back in. The engine onto the bench was an almost PB deadlift! Done the R1 as well. Much easier as there's nothing underneath it. It was fun re-fitting it. Used a bottle jack and loads of bits of wood to gradually lift it high enough to put a rear engine bolt in. The GSXR would be light compared to a GS though and the R1 lighter still. Couldn't lift either now. Now that I,m old, fat and weak . Might need the lads help with the LC I did an R6 two years ago and that was a doddle. Like you said it was just a matter of dropping it down and lifting it up again. I used a couple of ratchet straps.

There's a lad in Holland who is building a flat tracker with one of those engines. The engine is rotated another 90 degrees in the frame to make it like front to back V configuration.

The video was interesting to watch. In the past I stuffed some standard YPVS reeds and also added a vane in the middle of the reed for a bit of stability. I bushed the aluminum inlet manifold so I could have the same inside diameter as the standard carbs then tapering out 2mm in diameter to the stuffed reeds. This gave one smooth transition from carbs to reeds. When tested the bike was showing another 5 to 7 pk, but it was running weak. Pods were used and this coupled to the modded inlet meant the carbs were rendered useless. They could not deliver enough fuel. I tried 450, 500 and 520 main jets to no avail. It seems that once you get to around 450 main jets on standard carb with pods they are at their limit.
