Here is the 1986 Australian line up,the RZ500 was dropped from the line up at the end of 1985 The RZ500 in the brochure has a rear grab rail which was not fitted to the Australian/South African bikes, maybe a Canadian brochure?

I am just finishing a nos build on a Sonauto pre-production 47X rd500lc bike I also have a Yamaha Mitsui UK 1GE pre-production bike with all the parts to do a nos build on as well, very interesting bike Cheers Steve Hello Steve, pre-production so VIN below 47X - 000101 and 1GE - 000101 ? For the 1GE, are the red wheels the "original" pre-production color ? Same question or the lower cowl which is white at the bottom instead of read ! Have they planned to change that for the '85 models ? Xavier Hi Xavier Yes both bikes below 000101, the 1GE is the lowest known number pre-production rd500lc. Well spotted with the wheels!, Yamaha UK sent the bike to Dream Machine and had it painted in Marlboro colours then the bodywork got mixed up (this maybe the first Marlboro bike) Cheers Steve

Thanks Baz, it's hard to do a 500 at this level Finding the original tyres and battery took time...

I used to use the old Alex RD Forum and there were two users P51Bombay from Canada who was building an LC using all NOS parts likewise there was Jackson?? who was doing the same with an RD500. From memory they both had 98% of the parts they needed to build the bikes but the forum went t*ts up before they got built. Does anyone know if these bikes got built better still are these guys still about, would love to see some pics of the finished bikes. Hi Colin P51Bombay collected all the parts but when he started to build the bike he lost interest and sold his nos parts, some of them on Ebay Here is a link to his feedback on Ebay so you can see the parts he sold a few years ago feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=p51bombay&ftab=AllFeedback&myworld=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2050430.m2531.l4585I am jackson.40 and did build a production 47X rd500lc with mostly nos parts which i still have Cheers

No gasket for the gearbox, just use Yamaha Bond Crankcase Sealant (threebond 1215)

The above photo's are from a 1GE bike but yours looks like the 47X model which has different pipework. This is how it should be on a 47X bike Also have a look at this website www.rzrd500.com/500phpBB3/index.php

Fired up the Quattro and headed for the Fens The owner rode the bike to the auction and runs well,UK bike with eight owners. The bike comes with two boxes of spares(see photos) Nice bike, paintwork to a high standard. For me the "RD500LC" on the number board spoils it. Missing a lot of the original bolts, nuts, screws ect,if you had your anorak on you could write a book on what was not original but a great looking bike. The paddock stand and video are not original but the original screen is there and with dealer copy workshop manual and owners manual. They are hoping for £10k.

I will be having a look at this on Friday, checked my database and it`s not an original Marlboro bike but is a UK bike.Looks more like a £8k/10k bike to me.
I will post some photos on Friday.
