Mutts - I'm enjoying this part so much that I'm spinning it out a bit! Kostas - you're right, i wont need a telly now I have 2 LC's in my lounge to fawn over! TV for sale! Engine went in easy enough. Same with the carbs. The assembly has gone well, and loved every minute. Got a few things to sort this week: -front brake calliper has seized so needs sorting. I've left the whole assembly off for now. -chain to sort (couldn't believe it, when I cleaned it up, I found that it was a split chain, but the connector was missing and chain was only held together by a bit of grime and grease, glad I didn't put that back on and take it for a spin) -fit LH crankcase and connect up clutch after fitting of chain -going to replace some bullet connectors with some yam ones. Someone previously had done a fix with crappy blue bullets. I'm getting anal.. -need to get new tube into front tyre (when I took the new tyre to be fitted, the mechanic decided not to fit the old tube, said it was perished, but convinced me that the BT45 was a tubeless tyre and it would be fine. I was sceptical. One week later the tyre is flat!) Once those few jobs are done, I will wheel it out of the house, fill up the fluids and see what happens. I'm a bit worried about commissioning the oil pump. Need to do some reading up on that. Some more pics.... Left hand crank case etc to sort... A little bit to do at front end.. Looks good from this side.... Older brother almost has a little sis...

Hey Shaun come on , lets get it outside and kicked up. As you will see in my thread I have my bike running . If you want some help over priming the oil pump have a word with Arrow or just take your time and go through an odrer . I think I did what Arrow recomended , anyway had enough time working on bikes to work my way through it. Fill 2t tank. Open little screw on oil pump above large hose, make tea and wait ! oil will dribble out after a while . I had the 2 pipes from the pump to the carbs open , but used a piece of hose to link the 2 oil ports on the carbs together or you will have a big air leak on starting. Start bike and idle , while at idle I pulled the oil pump wheel around , so at full stroke. You should see the plunger going in/out . After 20-30 cycles I got oil from the open pipes . I have left my pipes open and tied a plastic bag to them to catch some more oil . You could do the oil volume check over 100 cycles if you really want . Fit pipes to carbs and happy days . Oh don't forget to add some 2t to the fuel tank mix , I used 30:1 . Bikes are looking real neat.

Took 5 or 6, then burst into life. Had a bit of a tear myself. Its revving a bit high at the moment, but I'm sure I can sort that out.

Great news and pics Shaun .
Just got to love the moment you start up a engine or bike you have rebuilt.
just some fine tuning on the carbs and your there. You see nothing to fear stripping down the carbs , just make sure you keep everthing the same and even on both cards when doing any adjustments.
I know about a tear in your eye , and it wasn't from the 2t fumes! I had my bike running the second time the other day , it just took me back 20+ years sat on my owm lc loads of smoke and the Allspeeds ring -a -dinging it all got a bit emotional at one point.
Good work , well done.

Finished off a few jobs today, so well happy. Cracked it up to and went for a run out on it. Had tears in my eyes. I'm one happy boy! I think the carbs need setting up a bit better than I have them, but I know a man who can help me I hope! Happy days.... Just need to get it MOT'd and registered now, but the hard work is done. I hope my blog inspires other joe averages with no workshop (or even a garage!) to give it a go. It's been a great journey and I have been truly inspired by the help, freebies, advice, support and general comments to keep me going. Thanks to all of you.

Looks even better with the good pictures outside . 'But the hard work is done' guess is is , but theres always plenty of tinkering to do .
I am glad you enjoyed the rebuild as much as we did watching and putting our twopence worth in.

Yes still some tinkering to do to get it running sweet. Starts and ticks over ok, but not pulling through the revs at load. Its in for MOT, fingers crossed. That will allow me to get it registered and no doubt give me a few weeks of tinkering before i get it fully on the road. Glad you got some enjoyment out of it too, and welcomed all comments. Cheers.

Good news #1 - sailed through MOT with no advisories. Must have done something right! I can now start the registration process.
Good news #2- spent a few hours with Dave (muttsnuts) last night and hopefully found out what was stopping the engine pulling above 5,000 revs under load. Got a few things to change/adjust over the next few days, and hopefully will have it sorted. Fingers crossed. Watch this space!

Whet hey, DVLA did a good job and came up with age related plate within days of applying so look out for RKU 72X on your travels.
Still got to sort out the problem of revving under load above 5k, going to drop a jet size again and try that.

getting a 6 digit plate is a good bonus mate as you are legally allowed a slightly smaller no plate
