hello Tony yes i did but at the time the bike needed setting up and , added to the fact that i wanted to fit some NK rear sets it got sent to Mutts maestro Dave and had some pipes made to suit the hangers , but even with the bike not running well at low revs or idle the hydroformed pipes was alright but it was a bit topendy and i am fairly sure if iirc there was no difference in rwhp (0.1) between the hydro pipes and the Alonze ones once Dave set it up just to add the Hydroformed pipes look great in my eyes mart I always loved those pipes in black chrome. I think i might have made a tight ass bid to Dusty for the pipes. i should have offered more!

I have got a set of good standard barrels now so I will probably try both and sell whichever I don’t want. What would be a sensible price to ask for the tuned barrel. Sensible answer please, I am not giving them away 😉 About the same price of the cylinders you just payed for.

It’s a shit design. They should have moulded it around a hexagon rather than splines IMO. It makes me wonder if the impellor is actually moulded around the splines shaft, or it’s heated up and pressed into the plastic? Any witness marks? Jon Yes witness marks on the inside of the steel cover. Not much as it didn't run long as i was monitoring the temperature with a Raytec. This one is threaded and came loose on the thread. Its now fitted with another old original impellor. All back together now. If the weather is not too shitty i might start it tomorrow. I need to make some better pictures of the pipes. They are noisy as bugger and look a bit like Allspeeds with JL cans. It makes me wonder if they are a hybrid pipe or original design?

From your pictures and measurements they are a very good set of cylinders and much more desirable than standard in my eyes. They will be a good all round performance enhancement.
It could be a repair but i've seen welding performed on parts before the start of machining or fettling of the parts to keep it stronger or stop any breakthroughs.
Don't sell them as crappy cylinders.

“First I need to find out why the water pump ain't working.” The water wasn’t working properly on my 250LC. Turned out to be the impeller spinning on the splines of the shaft. Wonder if yours is the same? Jon Yes Jon the impeller is loose. Happy days easy fix. I'm glad it was nothing to do with the cylinder head. As you can see it's an aftermarket part. It's difficult to beat original spares unless you are heavily modifying your engine.

Mi too but will be using molycote 111 on the threads Use it at work as a peristaltic tube lubricant but excellent for stopping stainless galling Found when doing up m4 SS bolts with a cordless driver if you went too fast the stainless would generate enough heat to lock them solid Steve Yes i use it on titanium bolts, also brake components.

For comparison. This is mine and it is ported. Lovely work there. Who did it?

Is it ported a lot? Will it run ok. I don’t want a race bike. Carbs still 220 mains I have an engine which has the same Reed modification and ported. It makes approximately 65 pk. With the same set up using standard exhausts it is very docile and better to use on the motorway. In this state it measured 48 pk Exhaust are very important for the performance of your engine. Speak to TSA, Mutts Nutts or Mick Abbey. They should be able to sort you out. I would be more concerned about the bore size of the cylinders.

Good advice from steve and urban. Also use a tiny dab of loctite thread sealant on the screws. Just make sure you degrease the threads first.

Sorry, I didn't necessarily mean that bike but how some modify their bikes in general. I'm perhaps unusual in that I don't like hooligan riding or loud pipes as these are things that turn Joe Public against us when we often need to be ambassadors to advertise our wonderful lifestyle choice in a good light. Just my thoughts that's all; the LC is a beautiful bike and was a real game changer. Very true because the police in Holland do have periods where they target specific problems such a noise from exhausts. Once the police put up signs everywhere in Rotterdam warning bikers that they will target noisy bike exhausts. One man bought a new bike and was driving shortly after buying it and got fined for noise and the bike was standard.

It's so easy to spoil what is a very lovely bike. Maybe I'll get it some time. The owner of that bike was the real deal when it comes to talking about LC hooligan. I could never understand how he could wheelie for such long distances including bends. That was Cornish roads as well.

I've been slowly building this bike up over the last 2 or 3 years It's been made from all the old parts I got from two ex-racers. Lots of bits repaired and straightened. I got the chassis (not bent) from a Andy a forum member and a special cylinder head from Mutts. Any way I started it and too my surprise it started straight away. The carbs have got no idle option so it must be constantly feathered with the throttle to keep it running. I checked the engine temperature and measured 40 degrees on the top of the engine and 2 degrees at the entrance to the radiator. Bollocks it was going so good. Will start to check for the problem in a few weeks. What's with the rear tyre? Are you taking up off-road racing? Just a spare rim and wheel to move the bike around. I've got some Heidenau tyres to use on it. It going to be my reserve track bike. First I need to find out why the water pump ain't working.

I have helped jack the rear end up on an LC which was track orientated. We were jacking the back up to help with ground clearance. After jacking it up using only the adjustment on the Wilbers shock, the rider started to feel the back wheel was losing grip and sliding. It was the combination of the BT45 getting too hot and the rear ride height. We ended up backing it off a tiny bit and raised the front end up a couple of mm as well.
Later I was doing some maintenance on the bike I was surprised to see how high it was compared to my RD. It feels sharp possibly nervous and has only felt unstable using it over cobbled roads at classic demos.
It makes my hybrid bike feel a bit more soft and lazy in comparison.
I would say it comes down to rider preferences. Raised or not raised.

Personally i still think the bush is a better solution.
I say that but i do have one clutch using roller bearings and one first gear running on roller bearings.

I use two YPVS cylinder head nuts to hold the barrel in place. Just don't tighten them too much.

I bought a load from Norbo when I first joined. I think they were stainless steel.
I now just use nylocks or loctite.
