Pleased to report the new boring bar set arrived today. If you don't mind me asking what's the minimum bore size on that set Need to open out my mill power feed bevel gear to 15.7mm but my boring bar it too big Steve

I’ll go check. It’s a 10mm/12mm/16mm shank set.

I reckon you could bore a 12mm ID with the 10mm shank.

Just as a reminder that life must go on as we mourn our beloved Queen. Just had the hybrid rear disc delivered.

Lots of handle winding today. This is why custom bikes must cost so much. Luckily my hourly rate to me me is pretty reasonable. Just charge myself a few beers!!

Going for a slightly thinner band so I can open it up over the 52mm upper fork diameter. It’s 48mm where I’m clamping so needs to flex a bit to get over that.

Probably the highest risk operation…

Bit of finishing off, tapping etc and done. Would appear to have just about enough flex to open up over the larger diameter. One down..one to go!

I’m not surprised it didn’t want to run. This jet was totally blocked. Air line wouldn’t clear it.

Thx fellas. Let’s see how they look with the LED indicators and new funky headlight.
I have the material for a set of yokes, but I’ll have a look at them when the bikes all done I think.

Rear indies 1 by KTM Marky, on Flickr I plan to helicoil M6 threads into the ally here for strength as opposed to plain tapped holes in the c.8mm aluminium, so the nuts will go.

Stunning work, and really bespoke. I can see why you called the thread a slow burner, so much special stuff to do!

Stunning work, and really bespoke. I can see why you called the thread a slow burner, so much special stuff to do! Thanks. I've had Covid and a slow (not yet over) recovery too, so progress has been intermittent. Next couple of weekends I'm away too so thankfully I mainly work from home and will try to get some time in the workshop. Once the squish is measured, I can sort base gaskets and look to assemble the top end. I'll probably put new bolts in too which may require some disassembly work too I guess. I have also been distracted with the thought to buy a Valve, but that was trumped with the potential offer of a 1989 EXUP that hasn't been run since 2013 - 1 owner etc that I just might be able to get my hands on locally - my fingers are very firmly crossed on this one. Will need an ignition system and some carb jets plus new Koso clock prior to hopefully firing up.

A few Engine internals pic's. Re-profiled head measures ~1.0mm at highest point on outer diameter - well 41 thou' in old money as my depth mic is imperial.. 400cc Head Profile Depth 1.0mm by KTM Marky, on Flickr
