That's a really lovely looking bike. I remember test riding one in the 80's and thinking how incredible it was. Still looking great nearly 40 years later too.

Managed to do a track evening at Brands last Thursday with 'No Limits'. I was on the reserve list and only found out i was going on the Wednesday morning! I awoke on Thursday morning at 3am to the most torrential downpour (after such a long dry spell!!) which continued until about 1pm. However i set off in the van and by the time i arrived it was dry with the occasional glimpse of sun. The 'Track day' had cancelled due to the rain which turned the circuit into a skating rink, however by the time the evening session was due it was bone dry, phew! Had a fantastic time, the FZ was superb, no ground clearance issues with the new pipe and she sailed through the noise test! Would really like to get one of the LC's on track but slightly wary about reliability, maybe next year? Mouse

Well, what a result! Since fitting the new 'MHP' end can, i have been wanting to know what improvements it had made to the FZ's power output. With the original 'supertrapp' can she was making 107rwhp and running very rich, not great and a bit disappointing if i'm honest. So back on the dyno with the 'MHP' can and...still very rich and 108rwhp, not exactly what i was hoping for! However Three hours of jetting and dynoning and...122rwhp and a really smooth curve, bingo! I'm over the moon! Pretty good for a 35 year old bike which Yamaha claimed had 135bhp at the crank. Top green line is with 'Supertrapp' Top blue line is with 'MHP' Top red line is 'MHP' plus jetting changes Mouse

Yamaha claimed 150hp for my 4XV R1. After a new can, a K&N and Dynojet kit they coaxed 144 out of it.

Well, it's been a while since i posted on this and here's the reason! Yes, back in October '22, i fell off the FZ, T**T!! Broke my wrist and made a bit of a mess of the bike. Anyway after a spell at Maidstone Motoliner to straighten the frame and swingarm she came home. For a while i couldn't do anything due to my wrist, so started amassing parts for the re-build. Managed to get an NOS tank for £180! I'm going to have two sets of bodywork, one for the road and one for the track, so no lights etc.
While she was in bits, i made a few changes, adjustable rear dog bones to help the steering
and i had some 'stand-offs' welded to the swingarm, so i can fit paddock stand 'bobbins'
Also took the opportunity to re-paint the forks and the new second hand front wheel as the original got very buckled in the off!
So, now just waiting on the bodywork to come back from the painters!

Oh dear, that looks like it was a bit nasty. Was it at the track?
I did my wrist in 1984. Very painful. No steelwork in mine, that's probably why it's so wonky.

No, not on track, long story but went to do a trackday at Croft, but it p****d down all day and i didn't bother, then went out for a ride next day, bright and sunny and fell off!! Wrist is fine but i also had 'frozen shoulder' which was excruciating and left very little arm movement. But got it sorted and it's well on the mend now. NHS were brilliant, but only stainless screws, i guess you get titanium if you go privately! Mouse

Fantastic colour scheme Mouse. Did you get inspiration from the MHP sticker. I like that there is no speedo,is that on purpose or do you need to find one because of the off?
