Morning Chaps, got this the other day. Been looking for one for a while to modify and this popped up! Most of the mods have been done and pretty well i think (FZR1000 engine and front end, Fazer 600 rear, blue spot calipers, all Yamaha parts too). However i will put my 'stamp' on it but first just a couple of minor issues to sort! Mouse live.staticflickr.com/65535/51279408751_f17babd5a5_c.jpg

As good looking as any RC30. Superb, and no doubt makes the purchase price of an LC look daft! Dont put too much of a stamp on it mouse Wish it was mine!

Thanks all!
Not sure about 'as good looking as any RC30!" but i love it!
And yes, the cost when you compare to LC prices is baffling! Seem to be fewer of these about too.

A mate of mine had a bike that looked like this near me in a village in Lincolnshire Mareham le fen, he bought it off another mate who built it. Has it got a exup motor fitted in it and has the rear seat pod had a repair on one of the front section corners ? If yes same bike. It was done really well I think red black was painted on and the Fz was decal.

Not been doing much with the LC's recently, other than their annual strip and clean. So, been doing a bit on the FZ. When i got it it had three keys, one ignition, one seat lock and one for the fuel cap, a dodgy looking key with 'JCB' on it, go figure!. Anyway i was slightly concerned that if i lost the key i was a bit stuffed. Mine is an FZ750 1FN, the first one and as such has a very different filler cap to all the subsequent FZ's. I have since found out that it is the same as an RD500LC. IMG_0137 by [url=https:/ However try finding a filler cap with keys for either! But while perusing fleabay i notice that a Yam YB125 has a very similar looking fuel cap, so i thought i'd take a punt and bought a chinese knockoff for Β£12 including and ignition lock and two keys and guess what, it only fits perfectly! The only difference is it is silver, i can live with this! IMG_0136 by [url=https:/ It has two keys which look like early LC keys but have 'YANAHA' printed on them! Anyway also made an undertray to replace the rear mudguard as i much prefer a clean rear end! IMG_0135 by [url=https: IMG_0134 by [url=https: IMG_0133 by [url=https: Took the trouble to remove the very cheap nasty mini indicators as well as they didn't work properly anyway and then set about making a new exhaust hanger in ally. The one that came with the bike had been made by a blind elephant, i think! Anyway, i hope mine is a bit better, IMG_0132i am going to take it to an engineers tomorrow to get them to bend it as after all the effort of cutting and shaping it i don't want to ruin it trying to bend it. So that's all for now, but there will be more to come Mouse

Thats very nice indeed, the only year/colour of FZ that really hit the spot for me.
I also fitted the same pattern YBR125 cap to my RD500 as well!

Love the bike Mouse. I remember the FZ750 with great affection. In the mid 80's, it was an FZ or an RD500 for me. The Fz was the sensible choice- I bought an RD500, I've never done sensible! The exhaust bracket looks superb. Cheers, Mark

A bit more progress on the FZ, bought and fitted new discs, got a good deal on these brembos, i really didn't like the 'wavy' ones that were on the bike, in my opinion they just don't suit it. Managed to get an engineering firm to bend the exhaust bracket that i made, but i'm now not sure that i used a heavy enough gauge of ally, time will tell! Also managed to get hold of a Renthal sprocket, it has been really difficult as Renthal are really behind with their supplies due to a number of factors! And lastly, a nice delivery, some rearsets, only found one guy making them for FZ's in the UK! And a delivery of a 'Hel' front m/c, clutch m/c and rear m/c. Hel were great to deal with and gave me a huge discount. That's all for now, brake lines to order but waiting on new bars first. Tyres have arrived and ready to fit. Hoping to do the 'Festival of 1000 bikes in July, anyone else fancy that? Mouse

Thanks jonw! Fitting the rearsets yesterday and a couple of problems reared their heads! No1 is easy to solve, just need a different gear 'knuckle' to connect to and No2, well the rearsets are designed to use an existing FZ rear master cylinder, secured with two M8 bolts. I am using a 'Hel' master cylinder which uses two M6, that have mounting centres in completely different places. So, out with the sheet ally and make up a small bracket to mount the m/c to the rearsets, it worked out really well and has pretty much centred the pushrod in the m/c. Just waiting for some new bolts to mount it! I'm now waiting on some adjustable clip-ons, so that i can fit the new front brake and clutch m/c's then measure and order the brake/clutch hoses and that's it. Mouse

Cheers Dusty, i love lockwiring, sad i know! Mouse I totally get lock wiring, I did all my bolts pretty much on the tz/Lc I even ended replacing as many of the bolts as possible with counter sunk titanium pre drilled. Love a bit of lock wiring but once to start you canβt stop. π
