Hi Mark, fantastic result your attention to detail has paid off handsomely. I know it takes some time to photograph and write informative posts so thank you. I have a question regarding the ignition. My co builder and I have an air-cooled RD 700 in a classic sidecar and are currently running a big bang ignition. We are looking at going to a cross plane crank as it may be kinder to the gearbox. Is there a reason you are using 4 coils rather than 2 dual tower coils? Possibly the ability to adjust individual cylinder timing? My thinking is that the system is a wasted spark design so 2 dual tower coils would work. Hi signal, and sorry for the late reply. Firstly, well done on building a 4 cylinder A/C. I went "screamer" for smoothness, exhaust sound and ease of kicking the engine over. To answer you question- 4 coils were easier to fit under the tank, as I could position the pairs at different heights. You are right, I still have a wasted spark, and using duel coils would work. I never wanted to have individual cylinder timing. I can, in theory, alter the ignition timing via the pick ups for the pair of cylinders they operate and via the stator plate, but I set the timing to standard. Hope that helps, cheers, Mark
