Hi everyone. Thought I'd start a build thread here. I can't post pics directly but I can do links (don't worry I won't do too many). This is my 4L1 250LC. UK bike, not matching numbers sadly. The plan is to make a replica of my first ever LC, albeit with a 350 top end and twin discs. I've been lucky so far, as the frame, forks, yokes, engine casings and wheels were all free, well, sort of. I got them in exchange for restoring a friends TZR bodywork. All the other parts were either swaps or purchased off Ebay at dirt cheap prices as they were al pretty much knackered. Both side panels had huge cracks in them, you can't tell now. Likewise the tail piece. I'm now at the stage where other parts are expensive, like a seat for example, so I'm restoring and selling parts and saving up for the pricy items! Latest item arrived today, some rearsets. Caked in crud and black paint but underneath was shiny chrome and the word Baumeister. I have heard of these but a Google search turned up precious little. Anyone have some info on them? Thankfully the wheels on the 1/1 scale model are on the right way round (and it is on the model now!) Did a little more today when time permits, normally when my mum has a nap (I am her f/t carer). The gear change linkage has cleaned up a treat and is on the bike but both sides need new footrest rubbers and I can't find any to fit, 80mm long inner diameter 15mm. Might have to get some longer ones and trim them to fit. The tank got a second coat of paint, 2 more then it's ready for decals I reckon. And I have spotted a set of clock protecter handlebars on Ebay, I am watching those as my original LC had them on...and Allspeeds. Trust me to use the expensive ones! www.aircooledrdclub.com/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=54611.0;attach=77081;image

Hi Alex I used to have a 1kt which is a Jap 2ma so same bike really. Mine had a 350pv engine fitted and a 90's Boost paintjob ! I'm not a fan of fairings so I started to mod it with single round headlight, no fairings and I started to repaint it. Then I had the chance to swap it for a nice Lc2 so I never finished it, but if you want an idea of what it looked like with the Lc headlight; er 016 by David Miller, on Flickr er 017 by David Miller, on Flickr Bike was gonna be white/red, hence I had started with the mudguard. It had a lot of potential coz it handled brilliantly Dusty

And the 350 Belgarda "ugly betty" bike came with twin lights fitted; DSCN2635 by David Miller, on Flickr DSCN2634 by David Miller, on Flickr I've still got those lights and the sub loom for them. Personally I think Lc headlight looks best, but each to their own Dusty

That Belgarda looks like it has a ZXR rear light to me...and yes after seeing both bikes a single headlight is what I will do. Cadbury's Boost, wow how long ago was that?

Boost was early 90's wasn't it ?? The tail light was an aftermarket, M&P style item that sat inside a Ducati seat unit. Dusty

Thought it looked familiar, same as the Mito 125 one and almost a ZXR! Been trying to think of the classic liveries from back in the day, Loctite, Marlboro, Gaulouise, and of course Durex lol!

That could be a bit tricky for two reasons...one, the TZR pipes are beyond knackered, no point trying to repair the previous bodges of blobs of poorly applied weld not to mention the cracks in the headers. Two...the engine is a shell, no internals!
On a plus point a chap on the air cooled forum has sold me a seat and for a very good price, will be nice to sit on the bike, get a feel for the rearsets and probably adjust the wrist breakers. Sorry, clip ons.

So this is how she looks at the moment. I spotted a tiny ding on the tank hence the slight mark of primer after a bit of sanding down. I'm still selling parts on eBay, and I'm either halfway to a set of Allspeeds or maybe a quarter of a way to an engine. I've been tempted to use a PV one but I think I'll stick to a standard 350LC one. On my original I had Harpowa reeds but I can't find any info about them, are they still around and if not what is a suitable replacement? And I think this time I'll use pod filters unlike the silly chrome K&N's that were the rage back in the day. They did more harm than good! Looks good Alex . Well worth the small outlay. I put a link to some calipers on your "ebay muppet" post. Don't know if you've seen them. Dusty

Thanks Dusty, just seen them. They look like LC ones to me but if you read the blurb it says YPVS ones?

Lc/Lc2 - the first, mk1 Pv, and only pv with calipers that will fit Lc forks. Dusty

Ahh...I see! I've emailed the seller to measure the distance of the mounting points and if they are the same (and now I'm sure they will be) I'll make him an offer. I rebuilt my last LC calipers and I think the kit was £30, and then I'll need new pads too...sheesh it all adds up doesn't it? lol

It's a toss up between calipers that need refurbing - something you can do easily enough with the parts, or pay more for some that have been done already. If you go for something from a newer bike, you will have the added cost of adapter plates. I had blue spot R1 calipers on some Lc2 forks, and the Nk brackets were £85 on their own. The narrow spacing on the Lc forks make finding something that just bolts straight on limited to Lc2, or expensive Harrison type calipers I believe.

Fingers crossed I can get them. With those ticked off the box I'll only need two other minor items...exhausts and an engine Alex
