F##k F##K and 3 F##ks !!!
3 niggly leaks
Put coolant in today and the adaptor for the temp. sender that fits on the side of the thermosat isn't sealing , even though it has a new washer on
The clutch window is leaking , I have taken it off and no pinched 0 rings etc and put it back on....
Then my nemesis , the brake fluid ! I had some stainless aftermarket bleed nipples and the one on the rear caliper is leaking up the threads
Some days you just think why bother !

First run up and heat will sort the clutch window
As for the leaking bleed nipple I've given up on the stainless ones as it seems the seat is not cut at the right angle so they don't seal correctly

I was just getting standard ones replayed I'm afraid
Try buying a genuine one from Suzuki
I take it that's the caliper you are using

Started it today !!!!!
Fired up almost straight away
Temperature gauge is kerputt , so how do I test it ?
THREAD STARTED HERE ABOUT TEMP GAUGE
rdlccrazy.proboards.com/thread/50500/lc-temperatue-gauge-working?page=1&scrollTo=473168
Don't know if gear changes are an issue as it dropped into first OK but trying to select any other gear was next to impossible with engine running but can do with the engine off
Kicking it over felt like it had too much compression, nothing like my red LC
It sounded completely different too with the Athena top end
Let it idle till barrels felt warm and have switched it off an hour and will try again later

It will sound different as porting isn’t same as power valves closed at tick over, Plus higher compression on Banshee topend.

If you ground the temp gauge connector the gauge should rise to max if it doesn’t the gauge is faulty otherwise its the sender

They usually dont like changing up and down the gears while the bike is stationary

Temperature gauge now working , so Thanks for advice and especially Alan Kelly :-)
Basically it needed earthing from the stat to frame to ground it
The gauge needle had stuck about a third open when I left it last night and this morning still the same, so thought feckin great
I put a temporary wire running from the hex on the temp . sender to the frame to earth it and low and behold it started to work !
Plus the needle settled back down to the stop on the temp. gauge :-)
All the tingling of the engine may have dislodged it LOL

Just got it MOT'd today !
Gears worked fine and clutch too
RGV Forks felt low ! Done heat cycles only before so had no idea how it would feel on the road,so maiden run
Was only pulling to 4 grand as was taking it easy but already that was hitting a huge flat spot
After the power valve motor I know I would be in for a shock and will be interesting in the coming months to see what can be fine tuned out by jetting and ignition changes

Earth from the thermostat put on better Used a small petrol clip and a ring terminal either end of the wire (You can see it just below the Hex nut of the sender)
I did have a little spade connector with a ring on the end but it would have meant draining the coolant then removing the sender and re sealing it
Checked the torque on the head bolts and were fine With the thermostat in the way , I could get at most of them by bending the hose out the way, just #10 nut was a bit fiddly but doable

As I went the MOT station with red petrol tank fitted, I'm seriously thinking of swopping the bodywork !
Bike was actually running in this pic !
Thought I had fitted the JJH needles , until I found them in the box LOL I had N68 needles in, so next time round the block it will be interesting how the JJH ones work over the N68 needles
Could be worse !

I do like the look of the red bodywork. Likey a lot Swap it over and see how it looks. I was thinking of painting my latest LC project KR yellow but quite like the look of the red on yours. Get some pics up and give my indecision chip a boot up the ar#e John
