Fitted the brake hoses yesterday, got the routing right, turned all the banjos to the right angle etc. The lengths i ordered are good. Good service from Hel, ordered them on Monday, got them Wednesday.
Started to bleed the front, using the vacuum pump, after several hours i gave up (some of the kit broke, then it started to let air into the system!) Went back to the old school method of pipe on bleed nipple, pump lever etc. After several more hours, i think i have removed all the air but the brakes feel more spongy than a slice of Mr Kipling's finest (No offense Mr Kipling!!)
By this time i had had enough and so had my knees! In desperation i cable tied the lever back to the bars. Checked it this morning and there is a definite improvement, more pressure at the lever, this is good!
Haven't even tried bleeding the rear yet, but still hoping to give her a quick run at the weekend

That's good of you, no problem, i think most of the problems are caused by my mechanical incompetence!! Still hoping to be out this weekend, i have a plan!! Mouse

So, my 'plan'. A girl at work's boyfriend is a motorcycle mechanic and on Saturday morning he very kindly came over to help with the brake bleeding. He said i had got all the air out and he made a few tweaks to the front and they are loads better, not quite as good as i would like but, the discs and pads are brand new plus the calipers have been refurbished so it all needs bedding in. He then proceeded to bleed the rear in about ten minutes flat!! So we have brakes and a running engine. Just needed to drill and fit my numberplate onto the brackets i made, plus go and get a bit more fuel in my fuel can and we are ready! I'm now a bit apprehensive about riding it and finding any excuse to delay! Weird, but i don't want a huge anticlimax. Can't put it off any longer so, fire her up, let her warm up and off we go...as i change into second gear it starts. this really, really loud high pitch scream/screach coming from the front, jeez, everyone could hear it and the faster i went the louder it got! The speedo suddenly leaps from 40 to 70 to 60 to 70 etc. Straight back home, having done two tenths of a mile! I figure it is not the engine, i reckon something in the clocks, so i take out the speedo drive cable and try again. No noise but also no speedo. Back home again, remove the fairing and strip the clocks again!! Take out the speedo and lubricate where the cable goes into it. Refit it all, refit the speedo cable and lube it and try again. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeey it works! So i carry on, it all works, bloody brilliant. Got home and had a beer to celebrate.
Going to check every nut and bolt and i have a few tweaks to make before putting on some more miles today. RELIEF!!!!!

So here are the brake hoses, all fitted and full of fluid
Just got to borrow a hairdryer (since i gave up my beauty regime, i don't have one!) to do the heat shrink bits on the hoses.
WELL SHE IS PRETTY MUCH FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Went out today, did 100 miles and no problems! Everything went well, i still have a few little bits to do, but here she is...
She is very different to my 4LO hybrid, feels a lot bigger, but feels really good. Still got to run her in, bed in the brakes and scrub in the tyres, but joy! I can't believe it has gone so well on the shake down, considering i bolted everything together, amazing!! I am really happy with the way she has turned out, i wasn't sure about the white wheels, but actually i really like them. A very happy Mouse

Have to admit, I normaly favor the look of an LC, but when you see a PV done like yours it has to be admired, absolutley stunning, the overall look and attentension to detail is superb and particularlly like the pipes, cant put my finger on it but they just sit so well on the bike. Enjoy!
