Had a bit of a 'weep' of brake fluid from the rear caliper bleed nipple. Nipped it up the other day and i think it has stopped, will check again.
Going to borrow a hairdryer from a girl at work and do the 'shrink wrapping' on the brake hoses over the weekend.
The back wheel is covered in oil and grease from the new chain, from the protective coating on the chain, couldn't believe how much!!
The pipes are blowing at the front, just need to whip them off and seal them, another weekend job and i need to fit 3 lighter clutch springs, at the moment it is heavier than my Ducati!!
I'll also re-torque/check the head again, done it once and was fine.
But all in, not a lot to do. Hope to carry on with the running in over the weekend, weather permitting!!

You will need to use "Wurth high performance dry chain lube"if you want to keep the white back wheel lube free. As regards to brake bleed nipples leaking my did that after I changed them to stainless steel ones. They stopped after about a week, such a small amour of weeping I think it was fluid on threads after bleeding coming to top by "calpillery attraction"All fine now. Best stuff to seal pipes I found was "pluma flue"it's a red heat proof silicone based sealer.

Maybe let the silicone set overnight ,usually works for me

So, i finished running her in yesterday, did 180 miles, she feels really good, going to drop the gearbox oil over the weekend, just as a matter of course. Not given her full beans yet as i still need to do a plug chop. Took the exhausts off to seal them, as they were blowing an excessive amount of oil out of the headers, where the pipes meet the barrels (like all LC's), only to discover, there were no gaskets or 'o' rings of any type, no wonder!! So sealed them with silicone and it seems to have worked. The speedo drive started squealing again, so this time i packed it with grease and it has stopped, hopefully for good! When i was out yesterday, i noticed the clocks were bouncing about a bit more than normal, i thought the mounting bolts had just come lose, they had, however on closer inspection at home i discovered this
Both sides of the clocks, headlight and fairing bracket had cracked right through!! One looks as though it has already had a repair. Aaaaaarh!
I will get it welded up or If anyone has one they are willing to sell, please PM me
And finally, while going round a right hand corner, i did this
It's not the end of the world, but i am a bit disappointed by the lack of ground clearance. My 4LO hybrid has loads more. The problem is the rising rate linkage on the 31k is just where you would want to put the pipes, which of course is not an issue on the 4LO hybrid. Anyone got any bright ideas as to a solution as i would like more ground clearance? I am not at the edge of the tyres yet, so the pipes are limiting the lean angle

Hi mate, "Hero scrapes" on the pipes !! You'll have to get thicker knee sliders Some 19" wheels off an Xs650 will give you a bit more ground clearance but may spoil the look Seriously though I'm not sure how you are going to improve clearance significantly. You don't want to jack the bike up any more I would have thought. You must have been well cranked over - we leant the bike over on your driveway to see the clearance for the pipes and it is virtually on it's side - you have grand prix potential !! I spose you could ask Mark to fabricate a "flat" into the pipe in that area but I don't know if that would affect performance, plus the metal is quite thin. Trouble is, he isn't the easiest guy to get an answer from ! Glad it's going well and you are enjoying riding it Regards Dusty

Going to see him this afternoon as i have a small pin hole in one pipe, which just needs a blob of weld and i will try and get him to weld up the headlight bracket too! I'll ask him if anything can be done about the ground clearance, I don't think Rossi and Co have too much to worry about! Mouse

If the Maxton shock hasn,t got ride height adjuster , can always put on shorter linkage arms to raise ground clearance...

Well had a good result this afternoon. Went to see Mr Dent, he welded up the pin hole in the exhaust AND welded up my clock, headlight, fairing bracket, all for nothing! What a great guy, i'm really happy and just need to paint the bracket before re-fitting. I also took the opportunity to fit three standard clutch springs to make the clutch a little less heavy.
On the ground clearance issue, there is not a lot that can be done, due to the suspension linkage dictating where the pipes can go, so i guess i'll just have to watch it. My 4LO Hybrid just leans and leans, so that will be the one to use on track as and when.
On a different note and sorry to post this but my girlfriend, who i thought i would marry, has dumped me. To say i am gutted is an understatement, it has taken a bit of the gloss off finishing this bike. As i say, i'm sorry to post this on here, i know it's not a bleeding hearts forum, but i don't know if i'll get over this one
A sad Mouse

Well, as some of you may know in September '16 i bought a 31k with the intension of turning it into a Hybrid. This is the thread showing the conversion journey, however all the pics have gone (Thanks Photof****t!) I stripped the bike in Dec '16 and finished converting her in May '17. She was great, then in June '17 i crashed her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I broke my leg (tib and fib, have mended nicely) but have severely damaged all the ligaments in my knee and this is on-going. Anyway, here is a pic of how she looked when finished
I'm gutted! It really upsets me to see here now. Anyway here are the pics as she is now, quite a lot of damage for a reasonably low speed (50ish) Shows how i have managed to bend the frame!
Luckily these (clocks) survived!
Tank didn't fare too well
If you look carefully, you can see that the actual clutch cover has cracked, inside the window, explains why she leaked oil!
The tail piece took a lot of the impact and i think is beyond help
The bars!!
My Mark Dent pipes!
Both lock stops snapped clean off
What really gets me is all the little bits, which i spent time restoring and painting
The impact tried to rip the tank off
All the body work except for the mudguard and bellypan is FUBAR!
So that is how she looks now. I am going to get her off to Maidstone Motoliner to get the frame straightened, I really hope it is going to be possible, then it is a case of getting some bits. I reckon i need: TANK SIDEPANELS X 2 TAILPIECE GRABRAIL FOOTREST OIL PUMP COVER CLUTCH COVER HANDLE BARS CLUTCH LEVER AND PERCH RE PAINT FRAME AND SWINGARM PLUS ALL BODYWORK
Actually not too bad, but it's all a bit depressing at the mo. But there are some great people on this forum who will help and inspire, so she will live again!
That's all for now

that can be straightened if you take it to the right person/shop, I am sure most of it is cosmetic, nonetheless painful to look at I am sure, all that hard work ruined, but you did it once, so you can sort it again and fix all those little bits that you wanted to sort last time round (coz there is always something that needs changing on a hybrid !)

I get that sick feeling in my stomach when I look at that
It's landed really heavy
You may not be too bad with the frame. They are quite strong up to the point where they go down to the single bar and the grabrail brackets and frame mounts can take the worst of it.
Hopefully the tank can be sorted. Just check the mounting cup spot welds haven't pulled through, had one like that
All repairable

She looks Gorgeous and I'm sure you will get her back to that state or better again, you have obviously got an eye for detail and the patience to go with it, did you have enough heat in the diablo's when she let go or was it definitely the pipes grounding that flicked you off? Those expansions are fat that's for sure, they look Brill and I'm sure they work well too. Good luck with the recovery, bones always heal faster than tendons and the knee is a tricky joint but I'm sure with time you will be good, I'll trade war stories with you at the Stafford show when I meet up with you and dusty . Oh and get yourself on match.com and find a new squeeze, maybe one that likes bikes although mine told me she loved bikes when we got together, she lasted 3 miles before wanting to get off and walk home lol not been on since, ( 8 years ) . Cheers Dono

It was the weight of the fish and chips that Mouse had stuffed in his jacket that tipped him off !! They say fried food is bad for you - they were right !! (rofl)Once the frame is sorted and the panels and tank fixed, it's just cosmetic stuff mainly. The tank took a major bashing - tried to rip it away from the frame at the rear mounting bolt hence the damage in that area. Mouse will make a great job of the rebuild for sure - he does build a lovely hybrid Dusty
