My only comment (and it is just a comment rather than a criticism) is the Image Works decal colour of the centre stripe is too dark. I have an OEM/NOS? tailpiece I was going to post in the for sale section, and while the difference between the colour of the centre stripe is nearer the darker one, there is less of a difference on the Image Works ones. I don’t give a damb myself as the white I asked for is not an LC match white either and it’s for a hybrid. Just putting it out there for those rivet counters.

Yep! Just checked an earlier 4L0 stripey that I did and again the middle stripe from Image works is too dark.
Would be good to send them a sample.
They are good chaps.

I’m not really bothered at all as it’s for a hybrid, so doesn’t have to conform to any OEM colours etc.
The white is a close to pure white unlike the LC.
In fact my other blue LC that looks at first glance to be a candy blue scheme paint job, is in fact Rover Trophy Blue with 3 different silver to gunmetal stripes. Not a white stripe like the OEM.
No rivet counters can say I’ve used the wrong colour scheme as it will be far from standard anyway.

Got an email from Martin77 today. He’s finished my pipes, and they’re off for Cerecote Matt black next week. I’d asked if a centre stand could be fitted with his pipes and he said he didn’t know as his jig had the mounts ground off. He asked if I had a stand? and a plan was hatched. I drew up the stand mounts in CAD and sent the drawing and stand off to him. Unfortunately for some, he said my pipes were a bit of a hassle and he wouldn’t be offering that option on future orders. Means I have a bespoke set of pipes which I kind of like the idea of as the pipes for my “Yamaha hybrid #2” were one offs built around the bike. Anyone who has read that thread will know the lengths I’ll go to for a centre stand. I’d like this one to be a bit more old skool tuning wise, so will probably just stick to Bob Farnham tuned cylinders (for bottom end) and these pipes (also bottom end optimised). Some may question my motives? As this bike will be built more for looks (having a 160 rear tyre etc) than performance, so why tune the cylinders? As I said, it’s more for the old skool theme. I suppose the spread frame is also a back in the day thing? My other current build is more biased for performance and handling. I figure if I’m going to end up with 2 more RDs they need to be different to justify owning both. Just like the current 2 I have on the road, totally different. Jon

Yesterday, I picked my cases up for this project from TSR. Really pleased with them. Nice guy too. Really struggling to justify super finishing the gearbox @ £240, as I know it won’t add any more HP, just maybe slightly cooler and easier to select gears. Jon

Started making a new wiring loom for this bike today. I was shocked at how much a 40 year old loom could deteriorate. This is the main power feed from the battery. It’s not even soldered to keep it conductive. So every circuit afterwards is compromised. All that dust must be some sort of limescale from moisture getting in. Jon

Hi Jon are you going to keep to the standard wiring plugs or use a different type?
i always think ikt would be easier with newer more common plugs, but i still change my mind and use the standard plugs in the end.

I’m building 2 looms. One will use the standard connectors as I just can’t bring myself from snipping off NOS switchgear connectors. Plus, I have a Kojocat connector kit that NLA. The YPVS may be a different matter. Jon

I welded my extra swingarm gussets on at the weekend. But due to the fact they were 5mm thick, the weld was industrial looking. I left it until today to decide what to do. I cleaned the welds up, and proceeded to run a 'cosmetic' weld over the top. This didn't work well due to the length. I decided in the end to just smooth it all off. Jon Jon, Did you box those gussets in or just leave them open?

Different Jon, Im not 'him' lol... but... I did mine open on my LC421, but a mate of mine has boxed his.
In theory, boxing would be stronger, but with wide spacers under the plate welded on I felt it wasnt needed.
