Hi The F2 is sold now, so I have some funds to move this on a bit. Here is the Metmachex I bought for the Rgv wheel; Frame and 14 other associated parts went off for powdercoating yesterday - gloss black again. I did take the frame to my engineers last week and had the powervalve motor bracket that I made welded in under the ignition coil mount. New taper bearings arrived in the post today too. I kept the Renthal straight bars off the F2, and removed the black anodised finish, and polished them up on my buffing wheel. I bought an Rgv front master cylinder off ebay to replace the Lc style cylinder that is fitted at the mo. I'll post some pics when the powdercoated parts are back. Dusty

Wow. Dusty. Your flying with the project... What ever you do don't change your mind again. Ha ha. Hope your back holds out too. It seems a lot of people in the job all suffer with back problems.... Mmmmmm... Looking forward to seeing it rebuilt buddy. Good luck and best wishes. Ian

Hi Ian Hope you are well mate Back is always "on the edge" but I am doing everything I was doing before I hurt it so I have made a lot of progress, but it aches all the time now. Just a case of managing the injury and not overdoing anything. Didn't think I would do another resto, but the need for a higher seat height than the race seat set up on the F2, plus the extra comfort from a proper seat foam meant the Lc is now gonna be my 2 stroke project. Powdercoating came back today - only dropped it off on Wednesday, so I can start moving forward with it now. Will post some pics up in a bit. Regards Dusty

Hi mate Bike looks good, I will pm you back Here are my powdercoated parts I picked up today; All done in gloss black. I ordered new taper bearings which arrived today so the yokes can go back on and various other parts can now be fitted. I ordered a Yss shock today - was going to get another Nitron, but the money I saved will go towards some new springs and oil for the forks. Next thing to think about is colour of the wheels. Don't know whether to go black or white ? Need to finish polishing the forks too so must pull my finger out !! Dusty

Hi fellas Yep, I bought it to jump on and ride, but there were a couple of issues that I wanted to sort, and before I knew it, the bike was in lots of bits all over the shed floor !! Don't know how that happened The powdercoating was done really quickly - I just happened to take it in when they were doing gloss black- dropped off in Windsor on Wednesday and picked it up at lunchtime today. Really nice job as usual too. I will start to assemble it all again - new headraces and yokes will go in tomorrow, plus the swingarm can go in, although I want to mod the chain protector as it's a universal item and looks a bit ugly, so I'm gonna trim it a bit. Yss shock should arrive next week, then mudguards can go back on after cleaning and a refresh. Not sure what to do with the wheels yet. Either gloss black or white. I plan on a paint job if there is enough money left so depending on what scheme I go for dictates wheel colour. And I still cant decide whether to use my F2 engine or go with the Lc's original lump. The pv motor bracket is in place so I can go either or, but the Lc lump would need a refresh whereas the F2 is ready to go. Mark, I found that other mechanics mag the other day that I told you about It mentions another edition with an Lc with the same mod, but I don't think I have that one. I'll have to get it to you. Regards Dusty

Hi Mark Yea, be good to catch up soon. Been messing about with the yokes today. Thought I could use the old taper bearing shells with the new bearings, but they are a different profile, so I had to carefully cut through the old shells with my Dremmel before freezing my new ones and fitting them. Just managed to get the bearing on the frozen bottom yoke so I can fit it all in a minute. Keep an eye out for Motorcycle Mechanics December 2000 edition. May be of particular interest to you Regards Dusty

Hi It's a new swingarm from Metmachex, designed for an Rgv VJ22 rear wheel. It's approx. 30mm wider at the chain adjusters for the wider wheel. Regards Dusty

Hi Jon, That's good to know about the carbs I didn't want to change them if it wasn't necessary, but I would like to fit an airbox at some stage. I was looking at the swingarm today, and felt the hugger made it look a bit bulky ; So I decided to remove it and I think it looks better; This bike is my inspiration; Dusty White with blue stripes, I think we're the best colours, love the look of a nice hybrid

Hi Update time. Been going through the pile of parts I stripped off the Lc. Everything is getting refurbed or replaced or just cleaned up. The wheel bearings are out of the wheels which now only need the tyres removing. Still cant decide on colour, so they wont be going for powdercoat just yet. Did buy new bearings for front and back though; New sprocket (38 teeth) from Norbo. Standard was 43 so I thought I would get a bit nearer to standard; Also managed to pick up a new wavey rear disc to match the fronts; The same seller on ebay had some alloy wheel spacers; I took some time to clean up the calipers, renewing the 4 cap head bolts which were corroded, for some stainless items, plus 2 stainless cap heads that hold the plate on the pads; Dusty

I will be running an airbox on this bike, and I picked up a nice one from Yamark. I bought some nos airbox rubbers from Norbo; I scrubbed all the plastics on the bike and got them really clean, and then used a reviving black polish to get them looking good again. Norbo also supplied 4 new grab rail washers, plus stainless engine plates that I polished up a bit on the polishing wheel; Also bought 2 new tank rubbers. You can see the plate I had welded in for the pv servo motor; Dusty

Hi Mark The rear wheel spacer on the sprocket side will be spare as I have a Metmachex item, so if you want it you can have it. I wont feel so guilty about beating you to them !! Glad you got the mag too, good ol ebay !! I trial fitted the reworked clock bracket. I may have had it angled upwards a bit too much - not sure until I fit the clocks; Footrest brackets got a polishing, again not too blingy as they show every mark, but I did manage to polish out some deep scratches. Also polished up the ally pegs and mated them to the powdercoated peg brackets; Nearly finished polishing the forks too. I fitted them to the bike to enable me to fit other parts more easily, but they will be coming out again for new springs and oil which will hopefully be this week. They have been a nightmare to get looking nice , much harder than my Belgarda forks; Dusty

Metmachex arm is ready to go in, but I want to mod the chain slider. I think it's quite an ugly item, obviously not made for this arm I will get the Dremmel on it and try and make it look a bit better. Still waiting for the shock to arrive, I will chase it up today. I am still undecided as to which engine to use. I have the F2 on the bench which has had a total rebuild and ready to fit, but I still like the idea of using the Lc engine. The Lc switchgear is new, as is the loom, and I like the simplicity of it all. I have done a ypvs/Lc hybrid before, so with a bit of a refresh, the Lc engine could get used - I'll probably change my mind a few times more though !! Here is the bike as it is at the mo; More soon Dusty

Will you stop raising the bar so high on your rebuilds,
Great work

Haha It's not that special, fairly straightforward hybrid really, it wont be as trick as some on here. I just want a fairly easy build really, got a bit bored with problem solving . Just ordered some uprated fork springs and fresh oil, plus I chased the shock and that should be here this week hopefully Dusty

Looking good Dusty. Your inspirational bike is the same one I'm modeling mine on. Not exactly , very similar.
BTW. What/where are the ally pegs from. I like them....

Hi The ally pegs were on the bike when I got it. The previous owner got them from Japan. They were marked something like KVB ?? Trouble is I've polished the letters out now !! Dusty
