I guess Syze matters though. Interesting that they give it a 3 year warranty. How many circumcisions are you going to be performing?

Mickey Mouse outside diameter measuring caliper?

Mickey Mouse outside diameter measuring caliper? Yes Tobyjugs, Mickey Mouse in accuracy, but more than accurate for the intended use. Ordinary calliper is useless for measuring say the wall thickness of a jug with a lip on the rim. But what’s it for though? Jon

Handy for quick reference, i still use my callipers now and again. Its one of those tools which is handy but tend to be forgotten about and then guestimate with a ruler or tape measure.

It’s been a while since I posted on this thread, but there has been progress. Today I went to see the Jason (the welder I know) and once again he’s done himself proud. I’ve never liked the scollup on an RGV swingarm unless it’s for two up one side pipes so therefore practical. I don’t like the unbalanced look of two pipes up one side, so subsequently the scollup was useless to me. In usual fashion for purely cosmetic reasons we went to a lot of trouble to remedy that. I cut two half moons out and Jason welded them at a 90 degree angle, then built up the edges. Next was to mill back the welds to mimic the original swingarm section. Next was to weld it in. I’ve been advised to leave the underneath weld as is and just dress the side weld back. Jon

Super work. I like it. I also dislike the scollop on these swingers when not used for the side pipes.
yes, that underside weld is where they crack and if its solid i would leave it thick too.

Finished article, ready for powdercoat. Sure was a lot of work for a small cosmetic change, but I feel these really add to a bike.

Okay, so it’s getting closer to deciding a colour scheme for this.
I don’t want anything too fiddly (speedblocks etc). Was originally thinking of the black and silver with white stripe of the RZ250R?
I know certain brands of bike tend to stick to certain colours, but I really like the KTM black and orange. I’m starting to think maybe orange wheels and frame, and black bodywork. As this frame has the twin spar, I think a bright colour may show the frame off a bit better like the KTM trellis frame.

I'm quite partial to an RZ colour scheme lol
Am I thinking of a different RZ250R scheme or is it black, silver pinstripe and a darker silver grey with the silver grey frame?
Anyway, the orange frame should look good. There were plenty of red frame/black bodywork YPVS schemes so a twist on that 👍

Orange was a Yamaha colour, especially in the 70's. I think black and orange work really well together.

I’ll let this run around my head for a month or so.
I’ve done scooters before where a plain paint job doesn’t distract from some serious modifications.

It’ll be a metallic black as I’ve already got the paint.
Carbon fibre front and rear mudguard, as I’ve got those too.

Another dilemma is what colour to do the swingarm?
Options please to consider?
I won’t be polishing this one as the metal is very thin from the factory.

I received my Renthal 758 black handlebars today. They were £36.65 each. As I got two pairs it was free postage too. Bargain!
Almost as cheap as knock offs!

Well today I got my footrest hangers welded in preparation to chop the pillion part off. This would have left the rib around the edge of the casting non existent. So once again for cosmetic purposes, I decided to build this area up in preparation to form a new ribbed part behind the exhaust mount.
