Today I got to check my wheel alignment for the first time properly. I had always intended to use the 3XV wheels I had, and knew the sprocket alignment would need a CNC machined spacer. However the disc alignment caused me to scratch my head also. I have an RGV bracket and caliper which I'd hoped would be an easy enough fit for the RGV arm. Turns out Yamaha wheels mount the disc far further out than Suzuki. I will try and make a prototype adapter to mount the disk further inboard, and if successful have it CNC machined. You can see how close the disc bolts are to the carrier And the wheel still needs to move 25mm to the right!

Thought I'd get a bit more done this weekend, but progress was slower than expected due to my old friend Geoff asking if I was not busy Sunday did I want to go on a run? Simon form the British two stroke club arranged the run, to cover ancient pagan sites as summer solstice is upon us. Thanks Simon. Anyway I did have time to make my prototype disc spacer. I'll make my mind up later whether it will stay, or I'll get in CNC'd. First I did a CAD drawing of the spacer, then printed it and stuck it to a piece of aluminium I'd machined. Then I drilled it

I hope I'm nearing the end of the modifications that need to be done, and can get on with tidying up, buying new bits that I know will fit and painting and building. The back wheel has caused a bit of head scratching. I thought that the RGV disc being 210 diameter would fit a TZR disc by using the RGV caliper. How wrong I was. Seems Susuki mount the RGV disc far closer to the wheel centre, so no room for the RGV caliper and bracket. This is a real shame for me as I spent months tracking down a caliper, then carrier (then having it zinc plated), new spring clip, pads and rebuild kit; only to find it wasn't going to work. Plan B, a blue spot rear caliper (4XV) to match the fronts. I mocked up an adapter to get the dimensions out of 4mm aluminium plate. The real thing is being machined out of 10mm plate soon.

Well, two things arrived yesterday for this bike. A10mm aluminium plate, and a 39 tooth 520 width sprocket blank. With a bit of luck, and a pile of swarf, I will be turning (sic) these into an 8mm offset sprocket to ensure the chain run is perfectly straight. Wish me luck.

Well I managed to machine my sprocket carrier and sprocket last week. Today I checked all the clearances, and I have enough now for the cush to work properly. After measuring, I had to offset the rear sprocket inboard by 8mm, I prepared to make some swarf: Then I used my old trick of doing a CAD drawing, printing it out; and sticking it to the work to get the hole alignment correct. The bits after machining: And assembled: I'm really leaning towards a few extra drilled holes with chamfers to break up the solidness of it: What do you think?

Hi jon can i be cheecky and ask where did you get your blank sprocket from

Thanks Andy,
That's 1 vote for extra holes. I'll probably anodise the carrier black, but I have yet to decide on the colour scheme of this one, so will anodise the sprocket on the accent choice of colour.
Is your YPVS on the road yet?

Deltadave, I got the sprocket blank from 'Dennis Trollope Racing' on eBay.
What a great name?
I remember going to a grass track meet where someone had brought their scooter in a van with sign writing for 'Mr Grint's Bakery' which I think is equally a great name.

Ive had quite a bit of trouble (as others have had scouring the internet) fitting the 3XV rear wheel. The front was a doddle. It's got a very wide centre hub both sides, which meant the disk and sprocket had to move inwards. I ended up moving the sprocket 8mm in, and the disk 10mm. I think its all done now. I was going to check the chain run today, but I whipped the engine cases out yesterday and stripped as much as I could off it. It then went to the vapour blasters. Should be done by next weekend I'm told. I really must decide what colour this bike is going to end up as I need to start anodising bits. I don't want to bolt aluminium bits on in raw aluminium as they will probably get scratched. I got my sprocket carrier back from the machinist, and I think it will look great bolted on.

This build has taken a bit of a back burner, but not stopped. It's probably going to have the most money spent on it out of all my projects, which means it's going to take the longest. I have spent more on these three parts than I did buying my first LC.

Hi Jon
As you probably know already doing more than one project at the same time is a big strain on the piggy bank
I'm finding myself thinking twice before buying parts,it's actually slowing me down a bit

Matt, I know what you mean about the money drain. I'm having to think about selling a few spares to bring in a bit more . In actual fact though, as I've said before doing more then one project at once is actually better in some way for me. Spreading the frame on my latest LC has taken lots of time and thought, but no money at all. That's given me time to save for the shock on this one. I'd stalled on this one until I had the shock, so I could see the final ride height. Jon

Well after the Photof**kit scandal, I've only just got round to rebuilding my threads. Progress has been slow on this build as far as building, as I am concentrating on My F2 YPVS build. However I have been collecting parts. I had my cases vapour blasted: I made some billet clutch covers: Bought a second Legend billet flywheel side case for YPVS:

Thanks Wangwang,
But it maybe a year or two yet; but I'm not bothered as my current LC hybrid is more than enough fun to tootle about on at the moment. I'll keep posting progress, as an when.
I'm focusing on my F2 at the minute. Spraying this week, and still haven't decided on colour! Might go for a Kenny Robert's style but with blue instead of yellow, and a bit of white ... but still like the yellow?!
This one will be a keeper, as it is the one I hope to handle the best, and be accepting of big horsepower should I decide in the future.
Jon
