finnaly sorted. Yellow Passivated parts came out nice too. I had all the carb parts done at the same time, not cheap at £20, but a new one of these is £15 alone. Carbs now dont look like this but like this!

got all the decals in the post from Norbo. First sandblasted the Reg/Rec clean after testing it on my bike and showes 14.1 volts at 2000rpm. With new decal fitted and mounted back on battery box. Small pair of pointed tweezers needed to put switchgear decals on.

dropped the engine bits in for crank rebuild and a few repairs, barrel drain bolt snapped, 3 holes drilled in case above sprocket need welding up and weld repair on the mating surface of engine cases is a tad high and needs to be filed down. Result with the barrels though, seems it hadnt had a rebore long before it went off the road, barrels and pistons have hardly any wear, some scoring on the rear round the window, which could be down to ports not shamfered. Its only on 1mm over and rather than use another .25 up, clean up and re-use pistons and a very light hone is all thats needed. Had bores measured, and thay are nearly at what they should be after they were rebored.

finnaly got a paint colour that im happy with for the olive green stuff like clock bracket, kickstart and the lower yoke. This is Kevs NOS LC. And this is the sprayed one after the first coat. Colour is RAL6006, I also got them to add the matt agent.

Paint looks ace mate. Much better then before, and much better then satin black as most people paint them.

Thats what I wanted to avoid, I had mine powder coated black in 2007 as I didnt know they were green back then, and my LC/YPVS lower yoke was already powder coated black when I got it, but not bothered as its not an origonal build like this one. Now I can get it on its wheels and in the Garage, as the rebuilt YPVS engine has been collected, just need to collect the front wheel which needed a helicoil insert in a disk bolt.

Well done with the paint colour Bryan, I always lookout for some weird colours in the cheapie shops when I go, might get a tin of this done now, thanks for the code Should have tried the plating yourself, I got some good results first time round, just needed a couple of attempts with the passivate until I was happy with the finish. Nice rebuild BTW keep the pics coming.

Going to get a kit to do the nuts and bolts ect..... but I don't think the parts I'm spraying here were Olive Drab Passivated as they arnt zinc plated or have the iridescent finish that they have. Things like head bolts, indicator stems and bolts ect look totally different.

picked the rebuilt crank, honed barrels and welded crank cases on Friday. The cases had 3 holes drilled above the sprocket for some reason, and I dont know why. Had them filled and spent a bit of time cleaning it up b4 they go in for Aquablasting next week. Not going to get them much better than this.

sorted the last bit of the electrics tonight, hopefuly the only non working bit but wont know till I get a Battery tomorrow. The earth wire was missing from the front side light, as its an origonal I didnt want to just replace it as I think they were over £10. They come apart and someone already tried a repair, but not properly. The disk for the earth has a small hole for the wire to be soldered through replaced with a bit of black wire from an old LC loom (to keep it all Gen Yamaha ;D) and put a new 3.9mm bullet on it, and it works. another free bit.

Not much done since the cases were Aquablasted, small issue with the mating face where a repair was made a decade or so ago when a broken rod damaged the cases. I bolted cases together and held up to light to check they were ok and there is a gap between them which is about 8-10 thou and would not seal with 3Bond. Waiting for the machine shop to put a small groove in mating face to lay a strip of O ring in to ensure they seal, also getting the damaged head skimmed flat and domes machined back to near standard. Barrels and the top and rear hose joints are now sprayed black with PJ1. Also got a metric fine M10 1.25 Helicoil kit to repair threads on caliper mount bracket, footrest hanger bracket and tie bar mount on lower engine case. Got a hand tap from eBay too so I could clean the powder coating out of the other footrest bolt holes and clean up the other threads that size, the normal pitch is 1.5 for M10 thread. Got 2 new rear indicators and the damper rubbers, connected them up and tested and all work and indicator unit flashes them too, so all electrics are now tested and working. Need to get new gear selector shaft and clutch plates and I can start rebuilding the engine in August. We need to decide if I'll be replacing the 4 gearbox bearings too. I have never needed to replace any, don't seem to go that often, but as we havnt ever had the engine going and ridden it, might be a sensible option but will have look at them and see.

Not sure if they all are, brake caliper mount, footrest bolt and the front tie bar bolt are, I have not checked the tie bar bolt into the engine cases yet but assume they are too. Don't think there is anything else, so you must be right.

been quiet on this over the winter, going to get engine rebuild in the next few week, just sorting out an order for all new gearbox bearings, engine seals and gaskets. Got barrels rebored with new 1.50 pistons, had crank stripped, trued and rebuilt, and finaly got an origonal undamaged cylinder head. Got a nice couple of bits too, these were with the 250LC I broke a few years ago, sold to a forum member who didnt use on his special. Cost owner a little more but NLA now. Origonal plastic top cap, all keys will be matched to the seat lock key so it has genuine Yamaha key.

thought you was selling the 31K Pete! Not been woking on it over the winter, going to crack on and get it done by the summer. Sundays intentions of getting engine bolted up and in the frame whent out the window as is sunny. so got up early and went out for ride on the LC. So today's job was gearbox bearings, even had a Genuine gearbox sprocket left over from the 250 abandoned project I parted out a few years ago. Got a set of 5 bearings form Yambits for £98 posted, only problem was clutch bearing had no circlip and the sprocket bearing had one but shouldnt. Fitted the clutch side one from the old bearing. Fitted new gearbox drain bolt as only a couple of pound. All in and oiled up, will get the crank in and barrels on in the week, then get it in the frame and start getting it all connected up.
