Hi, While buggering about in the garage, I found my old Gunsons Colortune in a box. I bought this circa mid 80,s, but never found them to be much good, any changes made to carburetion never seemed to make much of a difference in colour, but mabey that was just me..........I didnt know they still made them. I put it on one of my old Villiers engines and fired it up tonight to make a video of it. Here are a couple of quick videos I made, one with the light on and one with it off, for effect. I need the practice at uploading stuff to youtube, as you can see ! steven. www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2055119.m570.l1313.TR2.TRC1.A0.H0.Xgunsons+colortune.TRS0&_nkw=gunsons+colortune&_sacat=0

.... +1 for por-15, done two tanks 4 years ago, and so far so good. As said above, take your time, do it on a nice warm sunny day, use an old hair drier to get it 110% dry inside. Norbo does new copies of tanks, and all reports are very good. steven.

Hello Darren, What is the compression ratio for your model of RD125 ? A quick google and I found a compression radio of 6.8:1, is this the correct CR for your model ? With a Compression Ratio of 6.8:1, your approx compression pressure should be somewhere in the region of 115 psi to 136 psi, so 55 psi does seem very low.....holed piston? broken/stuck rings ?
I have managed to get small engines running with very low compression, but once started, they "wouldnt pull a solidier off your granny." !
Mabey look down the plug hole with a torch and see if the piston is holed, or poke a piece of brazing rod or someithing down the plug hole to see if it holed ?
Mabey some oil down the plug hole too, to free up the rings incase it has stuck rings ?
But I fear you are just avoiding the inevitable, if the compression pressure is that low, the barrel will need to come off for farther investigation.
Plz let us know how you get on.
cheers, steven.

Is that pitenween harbour on the east coast? Close, it's Anstruther. Hi, Really nice pics, and country side. It,s making me want to get out on mine, not had any weather or the right shift pattern yet, but I gave it a poke and a gurry today, first job will be to wheel it out the house and blow the stoor off it with an airline ! Seems lots have been out already, am at the coo,s erse again, but Im blaming the weather. Anstruther is a nice wee place, I visited it on my way back from RAF Leuchars Air Show a few years back. I visited the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther, The last time I visited it I was about six or seven years old. There is a plaque in the Memorial Room to my Grandfather, Thomas Harvey DSM, who was lost at sea during storms on the 11/12/1972 from the Maidens fishing vessel "Wisteria", four miles South of Dunure. steven. www.scotfishmuseum.org/memorial-room-and-safety-at-sea

... remember to get a chain saw or even a joiners rip saw would do, and cut the tangs from your 31K pistons, failing that, if you dont have any of the above power tools, just bite the tangs off, it will save lots of hastle in the future. ....... sorry, that was my attempt at a joke, and I have just checked your origonal post, its a YPVS, so 31K are the correct pistons. As said by others, if you dont have the correct measuring gear, it is well worth having everything checked out and measured properly, you know she is worth it. All the best, steven.

Hi Dusty, Still enjoying this thread and reading with interest. I would hazard a guess, that bullet hasnt hit anything, as it looks too perfect and not deformed in any way, but I suppose we will never know. Looking forward to the next "chapter" on your trip. steven.

Hi Graham, Watch what your doing with bubble wrap, I have read horror stories of people wrapping tanks and painted stuff in bubble wrap, to open them at a later date to find the bubble wrap melted/stuck to the paintwork. Im not too sure if this is freshly painted stuff or not, but worth watching anyway. I would swill a load of 2 stroke oil about inside the tank too, in an attempt to stop it rusting. steven.

Hi Dusty, I just discovered that on wiki also, every day is indeed a school day. I would love to do the tour you did, and I would also like to go and see Arnhem, as I recently discovered, I had a family memeber who was part of the 1st Air Landing Brigade that went to take "The Bridge Too Far," he was killed on the last day of the battle and is buried in Oostebeek war cenetry in Holland. Please keep up the good work with this thread. Thanks again for your time. Cheers. steven.

Hi Dusty, A great thread, very interesting. Interesting also to see "Semper Fidelis" on the bottom of the Devonshires Memorial. Thanks for taking the time to post the pics and do the write ups. Cheers, steven.

Goodmorning, Nice looking LC and scenic pic, where abouts is that view we are looking at ? steven. St Andrews, Fife Hi, Ah right, St Andrews is a lovely place, I spent a nice weekend at St Andrews a few years back when I went to RAF Leuchars Air Show, before they stopped doing the Air Show. Cheers, steven.

Hi, Yes it is a nice looking LC, but from the pics, it looks like the "clock" police will be after you too. From the pics, it looks like the clox are on the top instead of the bottom ? Who would do such a thing ! lol. steven.

Hi Stampy, The last time I looked, they were still available from Yamaha, but that was probably more than a year ago, so you would need to check again. The standard petals were also still available from Yamaha too. The complete reed blocks were approx £100 per side and the petals were approx £10 each, so £20 per side, as there are obviousely 4 off petals. Cheers, steven.

Hi, Oh,More "tang" discussions. So thats, Yamaha, Paul at PJME and now Stan Stephens that reccomends leaving the tang on. And still, people are attacking their pistons with all sorts of cutting equipment ! Each to their own I suppose. In saying that, im posative I read sonmewhere that Mitaka now do "proper/origonal" type 4L0 pistons do they not ? steven.

... the first bike I thought of when I saw the thread was The big Zed that The Goose had in Mad Max.
Another great film is Restless Natives, where else can you see a GP100/125 getting chased by MK 2 Ford Escorts ! The full film is also on youtube. We watched it again recently, it is a realy good film.
