Hi I recently stripped the motor on my German import project I could feel that the mains were tight an notchy and required replacing before I split he cases however the big ends felt fine. Thinking It would move things along a little quicker I made the mistake of ordering up rod kits and mains before I pressed the crank apart As the photo shows you really can't tell before you press the crank apart. The school girl error was recovered with a crank center section from yambits judging by the wrapping the on the center section they are supplied to Yambits by Grampion I may have saved a few quid if I had known that! Whatever all pushed backed together and trued up Seasons greetings Esme Interesting to see the effects the inert roller has had, and the pitting it’s caused. A salutary lesson to all of us. Thanks for sharing the photos/info Esme, and good luck with the rest of your rebuild.

You can fit YPVS needles and seats into 4L0 carbs. I use them in mine. 31K carbs do have an extra fitting for the vacuum tap, so you have to blank it off. That’s interesting Rob, I’ve never heard of this before, can I ask what are the advantages of this mod?

Hi Lads… I’ve got a load of Victoria’s Secret Bra sets just arrived, that will make lovely Christmas presents.
If you can send me a picture of your wife/partner’s Ti*s , I’ll let you know if I have any that’ll fit.
Merry Christmas 👍🏻🎅 😁

Dusty, That final photo of the almost completed engine is testament to your skill and patience - well done Sir!. The cerakoted finish is an excellent contrast to the polished components imho, and looks the business 👍🏻.

You’d have to be committed to your resto to spend over 3 grand on a set of pipes…….

Could you try one of those headlight restoration kits used on modern cars with poly lenses?. Or maybe use a small buffing mop in a Dremel with some polishing compound, like 3M Finesse for example?.

Congratulations Mark, The 700 looks fantastic (as if it were ever in doubt!). A truly well deserved Pat on the back to you Sir. Not only have you found time to do this, but have also helped me immeasurably with my own project, found time to work full time, juggle family life and relationship and yet, remain a truly humble man. Thank you mate.
Iain.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but I’ve just seen the NOS pair of 4L0 pipes on eBay has gone for - and I can’t quite believe I’m typing this - £3211.00.
Can’t post the link but the item number is :

I’m not a political animal, but she is so disconnected from the British public it’s untrue, and continues her personal vendettas using taxpayers hard earned. The Russians have already intimated she’ll bring us to the brink of WW3, but hey, wars are good for the economy…… maybe it’ll encourage us lazy northerners to ‘graft’ as she put it 😖

Is Mark going to be on Junk and Disorderly next? Alex Alex, Knowing Mark’s level of attention to detail, I can’t see him lowering himself to some of the bodgery of Henry and Co !! 😁.

To design and modify an auto lube system is a fantastic achievement Mark, I’m sure I speak for most of us, when I say that I’m sure no one is bored of reading about how you managed this. Just to package it is amazing in my view, let alone the functionality aspect of it!. Excellent work chap.

Think the issue now is that most people that may need one in the future already has one stashed under the bed so future demand for another batch is limited Steve I can see that in 30/40 years time when the family are clearing out our houses they’ll be wondering why grandad had a tank under the bed 😂 In 30/40 years time the family wouldn’t know what a tank is, and assume it was Grandad’s potty !!

Thanks Dusty, for taking the time to post this build, including all of the detail, photos, part numbers, hints/tips etc. It really is an invaluable resource for any of us rebuilding a motor.
Keep up the great work mate. bezzer.

Sorry Rob but I think those wheels look awful. Even on a Honda. Would old A/C spoke wheels not work? Some had a disc, some a drum front. Depends on what your after but they'll be able to handle a pot hole or two. Alex I’m afraid I agree with Alex on this Rob. Early RD/XS would be more in keeping with a TZ homage IMHO.

Lovely work Mark - I must’ve missed the update when the adaptor plate was fixed inside the case?, I’m looking forward to seeing the pump mounted in place & pipe runs etc.
Superb buddy 👍🏻😁

I've only just caught up with Mark's recent updates. There's no denying that this is yet another fabulously challenging build that, as we've come expect from Mark, is absolutely superb. What I lose sleep over is how far it'll get down the road with those shoddy, dare I say cheap, razor edged hose clips fitted As quoted by previous poster’s, the clip Mark has used is the one that Yamaha now supply, and I can’t imagine a major manufacturer endorsing a component that would be sub-standard in operation?.

Great story mate, and, dare I say, a familiar one!. I would estimate 75% of members on the forum would have lusted after a new LC in the day, but had to contend with slightly more mundane transport until life/funding allowed.
Enjoy the LC experience and this great forum.

Some lovely detail there Mark, especially the chain guide, and a neat solution to the rear M/Cyl potential issue 👍🏻.

Hey Mark, Thermostat housings look fantastic now they’re in situ, another example of the three step ahead thought process you’ve had to adopt with your builds!, fantastic work !. And at last a bit of luck goes your way with the squish clearance’s, the whole thing is looking just fantastic mate, congratulations on what is going to be one awesome machine 😁.

Well done on finding the neutral light issue Mark, just goes to show, even with genuine Yam or NOS parts, we should never take for granted their suitability for purpose!. Cylinders and heads look great bud, as does the engine in the frame. Congratulations mate ~ finish line in sight! 👍🏻

Update: Coil is now sorted, after jessy03 very graciously sent me a spare he had. Without this forum and it’s fantastic members, I’m not sure this problem would have been resolved. Many thanks to everyone who offered help and advice, and especially to jessy03 for supplying the item.
