My Tesla Model 3 arrived on Thursday, 3 months earlier than they reckoned. Think I may have got a cancelled order, but right colour, spec and tow bar.
I'm loving it, and get to put a smug grin on as I pass the queues at the petrol stations.
Wish I'd filled the bikes up though, 4 bikes and only the 1927 Scott has more than 20 miles of fuel left in it.

Drill a hole through it, tap it and fit a smaller bolt inside the stuck one. Use a copper washer or whatever, to stop it leaking. You may need to file the old bolt flush inside and open the channel up, to get all the old oil out.

The "back gear" missing is the only real problem I had with my Chinese lathe.

I paid £900 for mine, complete with the "industrial" stand, which is a pretty penny to buy separately.
It all depends on what comes with it, I have 3 chucks, face plates, full set of change gears etc etc.
All available on eBay if you hunt around.
The 1 item I'm missing is the thread dial....

On the subject of which... Anyone got a thread dial indicator for an ML7 or Super 7 going spare?
Love my S7, but I could really do with the above, for a job I have coming up this winter.

Have you got the slides the right way round? My thoughts too, and the correct slide in the correct carby too Floats set correctly? It sounds like it's flooding Metal backed pods and a valve don't really mix To get the slides the wrong way round, I think you have to swap them between carbs. I'm a PWK man myself, been a long time since I dealt with the old Mikunis.

As above. Had a couple of items (out of maybe 100) not turn up. refunded no probs. Some stuff takes a week, other stuff takes 3 months, so plan ahead.

I get about 50mpg, 150 to reserve on my F2/N2, mixed riding, plenty of thrash when possible. New genuine PWKs, properly set up, seem to make all the difference. Certainly better than worn out, old fashioned Mikunis.
25MPG suggests to me that the setup is wrong, or you have a hole in the tank. I don't think I could drop to that drag racing it.
My KH400 did about 25MPG regardless of how I rode it.

That one (1st post) looks like the one on my SRX400. I have an early R6 one on the valve, to work the PWK chokes.

It's worth remembering that the RD350R was designed and built to run on E100 fuel in Brazil. If you're worried, buy Aspen fuel. I'm going to give it a go in all my bikes, see what happens. What's E100? 100% ethanol I may be a bit wrong, due to the date of the RD, may only be in the 20's E22 or thereabouts. see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol_fuel_in_Brazil

Best mod I did was to fit an LSD, and to weld a bar across the 1/2 shafts and to the diff housing to try & stop them bending / twisting. Didn't break any more shafts after that. Pic of it in it's new white guise, really don't like the wheel arch extensions www.flickr.com/photos/rallysprott/49993163972

my 4lo back in 84 Stan Stephens tuned allspeeds etc , my first car mk1 Lotus Cortina , my second car a series one Lotus Sunbeam , rally cams , twin 48s flowed and polished head, works quick rack, LSD Bilsteins etc etc the best car i have ever driven in hindsight mart Ooh another lotus sunbeam owner. Had mine for 11 years. Fastest accelerating car on the market when I bought it, slower than the new fangled Golf GTI by the time I sold it. progress I suppose. LDH594V Still out there, but white now and quite spoiled, in my opinion.

Loads of bikes I should have kept, but the big regret was scrapping my Mk1 e-type Jag. I got £200 for it.
Failed MOT & needed loads of welding - just not worth it back then.

I'm doing an early 80's KE 125. £600 as a tatty runner, plenty of parts available and prices seem reasonable still.
Going to take years at the current rate of progress though.

I have his autobiography here "A bikers life". Not a bad read.
If some one wants to pay postage, or collect from Lincoln, they can have it. Hardback so quite heavy, I'd have thought 4 or 5 quid to post.
Cheaper in your local charity shop, which is where this is going soon unless someone wants it.

I'm guessing I won't ever get another valve, tatty but MOT'd & running for £400. He even delivered it to my door for free. Still riding it today, but with a few alterations....

Well, I've been testing a number of cars this week. The order has gone in for a new Tesla Model 3.
I know some people don't like electric cars, but I'd suggest you try one before knocking it. Can't see me go backing to a legacy ICE car now. Not giving up bikes of course.
Pity I won't get it before Christmas though.

If you have the R fairing, space can become a bit tight in the bellypan. I had to line mine with heatproof tape when I fitted Swarbricks to my R.
They will bolt on fine though.

I run resistor plugs and non-resistor caps, but either way round should be fine. No need to double up.
FWIW I'm on iridium plugs, been in for over 10 years, no issues what so ever. Think I've cleaned them twice in that time. Done coming up to 40,000 miles on them, so might be time to treat the old girl to another pair. I've had 2 cranks and 2 sets of rings, but same plugs...

You should test between caps / wires. Each plug cap will add 5K ohms to the resistance, so I'd unscrew them and test from the ends of the wires. If the HT leads are worn, it's often worth trimming a few mm off the ends, back to fresh wire.
The result should be in the thousands of ohms, so make sure you have chosen the right setting on your meter.
BTW, if using resistor caps, chose non-resistor plugs.

You're testing the wrong bits. The 3 white wires are the alternator 3 phase output - charges the battery, but has no bearing on the ignition side of things.
You need to test the low speed and high speed windings. Given your bikes reluctance to rev, I'd suspect the high speed windings, if it is an electrical issue. You should test the pulse coil as well. I'm sure the required resistances are in the Haynes book of lies.

The bush in the kickstart idler gear can wear and then you get all sorts of odd noises.

I'm home! 175 miles (aprox, no speedo) on the 1927 Scott today, to earn myself a "Chrome" award from the NRR.
Bike didn't miss a beat.
Who needs modern diesels with push-button start and other electrical fripperies like lights.
I'd encourage anyone to have a go. Didn't get wet either, just a 5 minute shower on 2 separate occasions.

Old 2p. Check with a magnet, older ones are copper, or some alloy thereof, newer ones are steel based. I guess the copper content got to cost too near to 2p to make it worth making the older style ones.

Just out of interest, why do you think you were lucky to make it home?
The battery is not part of the standard ignition on these bikes, or were you riding at night and worried that you would run out of headlight?
Oh, BTW, don't buy from shambits.
