As I have discovered the ride height on a stock bike is 740mm (ish) from the lower grab rail bolt to the floor. A quick check with a tape measure will tell you. I'm going to go a tad higher than that, but just a tad mind!

And just a thought...using 17" wheels have you (and me) lowered the back by 1"?

Hi mate Just bare in mind the chain run over the top of the swingarm if the bike is too jacked up, plus the handling issues. Mouse did a measurement on his standard Lc but that was ground to the lower grab rail bolt centre, and that was 740mm Dusty

I would like it to be a tad taller than stock ,but how much is to much ?? .yes chain run etc must take that into consideration 👍

I would get the 17" wheel fitted, then set ride height to stock Lc and see how it looks, check chain run, and see how much leeway you have with chain clearance on the swingarm. You can use a slipper on the arm to help protect it but you wont want too extreme an angle for the chain run to the front sprocket. Also consider where the lower run of the chain may contact the exhaust on that side Dusty

I've done some more measuring too. Right now I'm thinking that 780mm from lower grab rail bolt to the deck is about spot on.

The angle of the swingarm also affects the squat / anti-squat of the bike. Worth reading up on. If it is the wrong way, the bike will want to lift the front wheel all the time...

The measurement I got (from Mouse) IS from a stock LC. 740mm. So the way I see it with our 17" rims about 780mm seems ideal. However on my swing arm we are hoping to get 3 separate mounting points so it can go a smidgen lower or higher. I guess only a road test will determine what that'll be! Belly pan looks amazing btw!

That is starting to shape up nicely Chris.
Fab work made to look so simple but most definitely is not (well to me anyhow)
Have you thought about lines for the pipes yet?

You will need to make sure your chain clears everywhere. I run a 130/70/17 and my chain clears, so that is always an option for you.

Hi Chris I had the same wheels on a Ypvs hybrid I built some years back. They came off a Tzr125r Belgarda. As you say, a wider spoke design. I quite liked it but the front wheel only had a single disc and I would prefer the balance of twin discs up front; DSCN3808 by dusty miller, on Flickr Not sure if there is a Brembo front with twin discs that would match ?
