Try this, remember the broken shocker eye? Ken done his witchcraft and sent me these pics. Last piece of the shocks puzzle, off to the anodisers now.

Update anodising back and it’s rubbish! Told them I am not paying so see where we go. Bump stops were shagged so cut these out glued together then spun in drill with sand paper to shape into these just about to put all together and fit springs to see if they look good enough or it’s strip and try another place for anodising. Pics soon.

That looks really tidy - is that a 160 tyre you've managed to squeeze in there, certainly looks chunky, i get the feeling we might see a few twin shock LC's once people see this build - keep up the good work, has all the hallmarks of being a great special

Got to love a gag Bike.

All my hybrids run 160 rear Michelin pilot power 2ct. No problems at all, turns in nice,no steering damper, still get it to edge of tyre(no chicken strips) As an ex club racer,be it an old one now,I don’t know why people don’t rate them. And they look the business.

And they look the business. Bazzer, That’s good to know someone has some good experience with a 160 on the rear for me and Russ. Out of interest what base model is your RD, an LC or YPVS? Also what profile front are you using? On an LC using a 160 the chain will have NO clearance. If you do the maths, a 160 profile tyre is exactly that 160mm wide. The frame at the swingarm mounts is around 201mm. That leaves 20.5mm either side between the tyre and frame (assuming the wheel is central which was almost a good idea). Split link 520 chains are 20.5mm wide so zero clearance with the chain run straight. I wanted to at least try a 160 rear tyre in my LC hybrid, so to me the only thing to do was spread the frame. Less work on the swingarm too as I left it standard width at the pivot (FZR400RR). I figure worst case I’ll have wasted £100 or so on a tyre. I also have a 160 in my YPVS hybrid with a 3XV rear wheel. Chain clears the frame on these. Haven’t ridden either yet, so good to hear some positive comments. Jon

Jon Mines got loads of room both sides and runs the centre? Is it because I’ve got an offset swingarm maybe? I’ve gone offset front sprocket 3mm and taken 2mm off a bandit carrier which was 5mm less than the gsxr400. Chain is 520 standard.

Strange.
Run a straight edge from the widest points of the front and back of the tyre to the frame in the swingarm pivot area.
Check both the left and right of the tyre to check the wheel is central.
Next run the straight edge from the rear sprocket to the front sprocket to check the chain run is good.
Interested in the results.

Jon Chain run is spot on, chain is fitted with the front sprocket loose, spin the wheel in either direction and the sprocket remains in the same position. We removed exactly the same material from both side of the swingarm pivot too.

Even if the nut were loose, it may stay on the splines?
A 3mm offset front sprocket does not sound enough for a 160, I’d expect 9mm.
With the chain off clamp a straight edge to the front and rear of the sprocket and see if it aligns with the front sprocket.

Yes I have seen the riddler build.
But can’t understand the dimensions here.
How much clearance have you got between the chain and frame, and chain and tyre?
