Thanks for your positive comment yogi. I tried the tyre thing but was no good for the mot!! I have an offset front sprocket fitted from Nk racing. When the back wheel is in place with the spindle nut loose it's clear but there is a small gap between the arm and the wheel spacer on the near side. When the spindle nut is tightened the gap clears and the chain touches the rear tyre. The sprocket carrier is powder coated so it is an extremely tight fit in the Cush drive rubbers. We've put a 5 or 6mm washer between the bearing and the Cush drive spacer and the chain clears. It's still a very tight fit in the rubbers and it all works. I appreciate a lot of you guys have built some really special things and I dare say you know a hell of a lot more than me. It just seems a better idea to space the whole carrier out than having all the stress on small washers between the sprocket and carrier. I hadn't read Gary's post till I'd already fitted the bigger spacer but saw the second post last night after several beers and was offended by the term "bodged" I still can't understand why the chain touched the rear tyre as everything's Rgv and should all fit. I was rather hoping for an actual reason from someone if they had had the same problem.

You be surprised how far out things can be from bike to bike.Dont know what tolerances bikes are built to,but I suspect frame/chassis components to have quite large variations. Read an article a few back in motorcycle magazine where a new cbr600 was checked and was found to be way out. Have built 2 lc/ypvs/RGV hybrids and both ended up with different size offset front sprockets. Remember to ignore the chain adjuster marks on swinging arm as they well known for being out. Had this problem a few years back with a supermoto I built,I just adjusted the chain by moving right side adjuster back more than left side therefore giving myself more clearance for chain/tyre clearance, but it was less than you have. Even so with the wheel slightly out of line I never noticed any effect on the handling of bike even running in the fast group on track days.. Yes a bit of a bodge but worked for me,and I suspect most bikes out there are not tracking 100% true,if the owners are using the marks on the swinging arm Baz

Ian are you running a160 on the back? If so you could change for a 150/140 and probably remove the spacer But if it's working just enjoy and keep an eye on it Atb Matt

It's a 150/60x17 exactly the right size for Rgv. Seemed like there's a spacer missing or the wrong size but what I've done has done the job. Can't see there being a problem but, as you say, keep an eye on it. Thanks again

Looks really mean in satin black. I would be tempted to keep it in that colour. Great build mate.

Hi I'm the same as Bazzer. I've got 2 hybrids with identical back ends and the spacings are different between them. Had a real problem with the blue hybrid, eventually getting my own spacer made up and disgaurding the one supplied by Metmachex. Took some careful measuring and work to get it right, and if I swapped one rear wheel with the other it wouldn't fit properly !! The mass production of bikes must affect the tolerances of parts like these. Dusty

Thanks yogi, bazza, dusty and everyone else who's left nice/positive comments. Now, I need a new gearshift knuckle, I've read it's a 10mm spline. Does anyone know of any others that will fit? I could buy the whole lever etc from norbo but I only need the spline piece and rose joint that goes into the gears shaft. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks again ian

Thanks again ian I can't give the answer, but I would assume the TDR shaft is the same/similar?? remember lots of posts about knackered gearshafts, a little while ago on the TDR forum, and the solution was XJ600 gearchanges, might be similar?? here's a thread, XJ600 diversion (not sure if you have to be a member to view?? tdr250.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=5557&hilit=diversion+gear&start=20

Yah sorry for the lapse in posting Rear brembo master fitted with Nk rearsets Only used it to and from work a few times but been out tonight to get a few miles on it. Covered just over 50 now and feels crisp as an iceberg lettuce. Feels like it's gonna go like stink. This was the first actual ride "nostalgic to say the least!" And now the belly pan is on too

Thanks. This is only a temporary thing till I decide what colour/scheme to finish it in. It's just satin black smoothrite but it deserves a proper job.

Hi That is looking really good now. I think the satin black works really well Choosing a paintscheme is a huge decision due to cost and overall look. I'm sure whichever you choose it will look awesome Dusty

I'd keep it satin black (like the MV SPR that was Satin), just get the silver LC stripes like in mine and I think it will look the biz..... Mine is Metallic black, but have thought about a satin black finish, now I have to think of something else for it now !
