Thanks for the comments, I will have owned the bike for 3 years in November, knowing that I'm potentially only weeks away from starting the bike after so long working on it, the anticipation is definitely building. Just hope I haven't scudded myself by calling the build thread 'And so it starts' !
twostrokejoe - would be great to meet up with some of the forum members from this side of the pond (and any of the forum members that could make the trip over), the North West 200 would be an ideal place to do it p.s. that's an impressive list of bikes you've got.

I run a race team (r6) so might have an entry for the NW next year. Just finished IOM Manx newcomers with top ten finish . No race plans as of yet. Had Vinny Brennan ride this year. Bought the r6 from Tim Martin. (Martrain) x Dean Harrison machine. Will be at several events north and south so just have to meet up.

Excellent finish at the IOM, good luck with the racing and will definitely keep an eye out for the team.

Got the clutch fitted, was waiting on 6 new clutch springs, all plates measured up well within spec but the springs were slightly short, just went for the gen Yamaha ones, kick start mechanisim fitted and side casing on.

got the top end painted and fitted, my mate came round and helped me with setting the ignition timing, using a DTI set to 1.8 BTDC. put the offset sprocket on along with the longer ypvs collar / spacer, not enough room for the locking washer but will hopefully be reducing the lenght of the collar to line up with the rear sprocket. Just the PWK carbs to go on and its back in the frame. Ive fitted the exhaust collars allong with the gaskets but now think this might hinder the engine goin into the frame. Big thanks to twostrokejoe for sorting me out with the wire clip for the stator cable, very much appreciated

I had the same problem with the sprocket when i put my 4LO engine in my hybrid frame. My sprocket had two holes in it so i cut the locking tab so that two strips of the tab could be bent into the holes. For extra security i used loctite on the nut.

Finally the engine is in AND RUNNUNG!, have to admit I was quite pleased with myself when the engine fired up first kick, although to counteract that, the head gasket is weaping coolant from one of the bolt heads, there's always something! I stage torqued the head up to 25nm and have run the engine over 3 nights and re-torqued to 28nm but still weaping, its a pattern gasket that Ron supplied with the 370 top end, he assured me before i fitted it he has been using these with no issues, I'm now regretting not using some istant gasket as well. I have also got an issue with the kickstart hitting the footpeg which dusty had given me a heads up about, its also hitting the rear brake lever but on the plus side the engine sounds really crisp and the pipes do sound really well, tried to upload a vid but without success. have got the oil pump bleed, all systems go now to get it on the road

Davey, awesome, just awesome. Your attention to detail and finish have made your bike into a show winner. My favourite part is the swing arm, probably the best I've seen. It just looks so right. If you went into production, you'd sell loads
Well done mate, fabulous bike, you should be very proud

Cheers Dusty, cant wait to get her run in and see how it performs. Does your alloy kick start lever give more clearance to the brake lever and does a standard LC footrest have to be flicked up to clear the kick start.
Thanks Davey

Std lc footrest needs flicking up to clear the kick start The std lc brake pedal is well tucked in to keep it out the way Maybe a short alloy kickstart might help clear your brake pedal ,but it mine worse with tarrozi rearsets so I put the std footrests/hangers back on ,it's now a lot easier to kick when sitting on the bike

OEB - thanks for that link, will maybe drain the water and give it another nip up, 34NM seams to be the max you want to go to, but suspect it maybe be too late now that the water has breached the gasket.
Stusco - thanks for the info

Had a bit of a result with the chain allighment, the runout between the front and back sprocket was less than 1mm, that was measured using my chaep lazer tool and double checked with a bit of string! I had previously removed 10mm off the rear sprocket carrier putting the chain in the center of the gap left between the edge of the tyre and the inside of the frame, that allong with the 5mm offset front sprocket and the longer YPVS collar has worked out spot on, i was expecting to have to adjust either the collar behind the front sprocket or the rear sprocket carrier, wonders will never cease! Got a piece of engineering nylon to make the chain sliders for the top / underside of the swingarm, my mate made a crackin job of the top slider, milling the slots for the chain to run, and i made the easier underside protector. gaps to the tyre edge and inside of frame look better than i was expecting considering i have a 150 rear tyre. Have made a 16 point list to sort out before its first outing and MOT

Just seen your build thread don't know how I missed it, but the bike is looking brilliant and top class work you've done there. Who rebuilt your crank for you, was it someone local?

Did you supply the parts or did they, I forgot about east end m/cycles they rebored my barrels a few years ago, not sure if he's still open as his business is up for sale and he's retiring.

cheers mark, list getting shorter by the night, still to get new number plate and fit rear reflector, fit belly pan, possibly make chain guard although i believe it is not a requirement for the MOT, but probably advisable specially with the white wheels, fitted new petrol tap tonight, the other one broke the cast alloy when i tightened the bolts! also one of the exhaust springs was rubbing on the underside of the radiator, got that sortd bt removing the spring loop and re welding further round the pipe. Fitted a new head gasket with threebond applied this time, fingers crossed! Hopefully not to far away from her maiden voyage

Hi Looking fantastic mate I echo Marks thoughts on that chain slider. Perhaps you could send the design to Metmachex - it looks far better than their slider !! Keep going, nearly there. Regards Dusty

Thanks dusty,
Cant take the credit for the slider, was all my mates work, had asked him to mill the two slots in the top face for the chain to run in but it came back finished! After I drilled and tapped the 3 holes to fit it to the arm it was ridding up on a weld so marked the underside for a diagonal slot and my mate sorted that as well, surprising the amount of work in a wee job like that but have to admit was pleased with how it turned out. Its help like this, along with advice / guidance not to mention parts from forum members that have got me to the stage i'm at, Thanks to all that have taken an interest and helped me in my build, Its very much appreciated.
