Is it the camera angle or is that gap between the swinging arm and oil feed fittings a bit tight? Love the build btw .. lateral thinking should be taught in schools yeah, it is fairly tight, that's why I had to move the turbo in the first place as the swinging arm was hitting the turbo, when I fully compress the rear suspension now it is clear, but only just, I'll struggle to move the turbo any further up, so it had better be clear when being ridden! - suppose I'll soon find out - maybe just make sure I can't take any passengers ! Fill the tailpiece with helium

yeah its an option, or put some very heavy weights on the front - other than me that is !!

Personally I'd notch the swingarm centre brace to be on the safe side as It looks plenty chunky enough. Instead of the top closing plate being horizontal, you could angle it down towards the front.
It's going to be a lot less work than if it hits the turbo.
Then again it's only from a photo, and you can physically see how much clearance there is.
Judging by the state of today's roads though, better to be safe than sorry.

well its been fun and games the last few weeks sorting out all sorts of problems, mainly turbo related, however, after some very late nights and some head scratching I've managed to sort out the majority of the issues and now have the bike producing some boost from the turbo, so now all I have to do is sort out a few other parts, get them fitted and then plumb the turbo to the carbs etc and sort out the fuelling and it should in theory work, so another couple of weeks I will hopefully be publishing the first results of the dyno run with the turbo attached, or publishing the results of my engine in a million parts as it grenades itself !! Anyway, to keep you all interested, my mate knocked this up in photoshop for me, I like it, what do you guys think as I am thinking of having the decals etc made........

Yes go for it Dave, looks great. That rear seat looks like an ejector to me when the turbo kicks in!

I like the graphics, tho i would add some red on the sides to match the guard and have the WTF decal horizontal-ish like the other one. Might also do the WTF decal in the same vein as the other as well as they are quite different as they stand, but mostly i like the simplicity and modernity of the scheme.

I think that would look really good...and I also love the WTF400 ! How about a classic Kawasaki Green paint job...but incoporating Yamaha speed blocks into the design?

I suppose instead of the red stripe down the middle I could do a green stripe, thereby keeping some of the Kawasaki theme going......

The wheelbase looks very short for all that power maybe a longer swinging arm at some time.... really nice bike looking forward to the finished result

ok, my mate is knocked up some more images for me, I am thjinking of dojng the frame etc in satin black, so here it is with a satin black frame and red decals etc and this is with green instead of red I am liking the green and black, but think it might be over powering the Yamaha theme of the bike, but that's just me, for now it will be red as most of it is already going that way, but in winter when it all gets stripped down for a proper make over I think it will end up green thoughts?

update time again. had a lot of fun and games with the bike recently, especially on the turbo front. After getting it all sorted, the engine wouldn't run very well on the dyno, it wasn't happy pulling past 4k rev's, after some tests etc, it turns out the turbo is too small for my new engine ! - of all of the things I thought I would have to deal with, that wasn't one of them ! Anyway, have managed to find a qwork around while I source a more suitably sized turbo, but for now, I can prove the concept and worry about making "real" power at a later date. A few other issues cropt up which has necessitated further modifications and updates, one being the clutch slipping under hard acceleration in top gear, so had to fit a lock up clutch, but of course, being this bike, that's not such an easy job as I had to modify the clutch casing to fit the extender kit etc So, where am I at, well here's some pictures to keep you all interested !! This is how the bike looks at the moment....... on the plus side, the exhaust system is now fully finished and boy does it look ace - photo's will follow in due course ! lock up clutch fitted .... and of course, once that was fitted, the damn clutch cover wouldn't fit, so I've had to modify a clutch casing, so out with the drill, dremel, grinder a few choice words and loads of sweat...... sometime later.......and after a boat load of dremeling, grinding and filing, I ended up with this...... and with the extended cover on it...... so now all I have to do is weld it all up, give it a quick once over and a lick of paint and then I can fit that back ! I did manage to finish the top yoke, bar risers and instrument panel bracket off finally, so here it is fitted waiting for the dash...... On the plus side the plenum chamber is nearly finished, as is the fuel pump and fuel regulator plumbing and fixing, on the down side the oil tank has decided to start leaking so I need to fix that and the front brakes haven't wanted to play ball, so I've had to strip them back down and ended up fitting some other brakes, but they need some slight modifications which I'll get done in a day or so. Of the jobs left to do, the big ones are; Cut and modify the fuel tank, it needs some heavy surgery so that it fits over and around stuff now The plenum chamber needs finishing Clutch cover needs welding etc Front brakes need sorting Dash needs fitting, wiring, setting up and programming Fueling needs sorting for the turbo etc I need to make some more spacers up for the rear shocker, fuel tank and a few other bits and bobs Repair the oil tank Finish modifying the side stand Make yet another skick starter as the one on is too weak and keeps bending !...... and finally of course, it needs to be run up on the dyno and set completely up, which will be a days work on its own so its coming along, hopefully the nesxt update will include some photo's of the bike assembled and if I am lucky some figures with the turbo fully working, albeit in a reduced mode due to it being too small, stil if it was easy it would have been done a dozen times already !

Hi Jon, not sure at the moment, think it might end up being a garrett 2860 disc potato type, but still doing the calcs now that I've got the relevant info to enable me to do better sums !! - more maths, oh, how I love it !!
