I've tried the Motobatts etc. but old skool seems to be the way to me. Be careful with lithium, many of the old fashioned reg/recs don't know what it is and that might not work out well. They're a bit of a worry to charge too from what I understand, best off with a long extension cable and do it at the bottom of your garden away from trees or anything else combustible.

My chap does a great job and is very reasonable on price, that little bundle of joy he blasted, prepped and powdercoated for £45.

Fitting an R6 rad to the ypvs. How is that going with hoses and such? Are you running a standard head?

productive day today. yesterday i cleaned up a pair of e bay special barrels that had about 3 coats of gloss paint on them, so today i painted them with simoniz tough satin which i know works well. Then i got a delivery from Norbo so i now have the required parts to make up another set of forks. A bonus( or maybe not) with the barrels is that they have been ported and it looks like an excellent job, certainly not a home done one. These were going to be donor barrels if i ever went for a Fahron / mutts 370 job but i may have to test and see how they work as is although they do need a little more cleaning up on the bore yet. I’ve got a Pro Design cool head to go on it, haven’t looked at hoses yet, blocked off lower outlet as well. I’m waiting for the top crankcase to come back from powder coating then I can assemble the engine.

Which was nice!

One of the lugs was missing from the centre tail piece so I’ve had a go at repairing it. Put some filler around the good one to make a mould, used Plastex to make a lug, drilled a hole in each part and used a piece of wire to hold in place while I bridged the gap.

Took the white 84 RZ350 out for the 1st time in three months. Noticed instrument lights on the Koso flickering and turn signals coming on but not flashing. Switched to the voltage screen. Read 9.6 so I took it back to the shop. The 8 year old Moto-Batt battery showed a full charge after only 10 minutes on the trickle charger but dropped to 9 volts as soon as the ignition was turned on. I went to O'Reillys auto parts and got a slightly shorter slightly wider power sport battery like I put in the Gray Ghost RZ. 12.75 volts, jumped to 13.6 when I blipped the throttle. I filled in the space in the battery box with some foam and all is well again.

Dragged the LC out and started her up, sounded angry, took her for some fresh fuel. Also finished off a spare Ypvs engine.

Sunday, got her out from winter hibernation.
Went for a gentle run until got some heat in her, then a good run….
Always amazes me when other bikers make a big effort when they see an LC.
An hour of fun and shenanigans was had.

Took my 31k's logbook to the post office to register it as 'historic', so no more road tax or MOT's.
That will be all three LC's registered as 'historic' now, YES!
