As usual, gave it a quick polish but still can't work out why it won't start. Rebuilt it last year and haven't been able to get it running. It is very shiny though!

I like the way this has restarted after 3 years, so here goes if I can remember the past 40 years! Yamaha RS100 Honda CB400F Yamaha RD350B Honda CB550F Suzuki GT550 Kawasaki GPZ500 Kawasaki GPZ1000RX Suzuki GSX400 (early one bought for the wife but she never rode it) BMW 1150GS Kawasaki Versys 1000 Yamaha XT1200 current 2x Yamaha XS1100 (projects but never finished and had to get rid of on moving) Yamaha RD250LC current project
I think that's all but am going to see a Yamaha MT 03 for Mrs J.

Bloody thing still wont start and I have now lost the keys! May have to get a new lock set if I can't find the keys! Checked plugs and there's a good spark but they are dry so must be a fuel problem, carbs off and very clean so why no fuel? Best fish and chips I ever had was in Peterhead, fish straight off a boat!

Hi there, my Swiss 250LC does indeed have the number stamped on the right hand side and a small plate riveted in front of the steering lock.

Finally finished the engine rebuild and put the bike back together. Fuel ok and battery charged but will it start? Nope nothing, I kicked and kicked, choke on and off but nothing. Set the timing again but still nothing. Still it looks good as when I am thinking I polish it! All ideas welcome.

Back in the day I wanted a 350LC but never had the money or time. Had a RD350B that I loved.Fast forward to 2017 and although my Super Tenere does every thing I want of it I still wanted a project. Found a 250LC and having a bit of money now bought it. On the way home it seized but not before an hour of laughing and feeling 20 again! Its still not been rebuilt but its nearly there and I may finish it next week when I get back from the Classic Bol D'or. So buy one, have fun and enjoy.

Due to living in Switzerland found it cheaper and easier to buy a new one with upgraded bearings from PJME. Good service and arrived safe and sound, recommended!

Just make sure they have title as can't get them shipped without. There are a few companies that will ship stuff for you.

Welcome to the forum. As I live in Switzerland I also had the same problem. All the good stuff is in the UK and after my crankshaft bearings failed I opted to just buy a brand new one from PJME along with the genuine seals. It arrived well packaged and undamaged. Will one day get the original crank either rebuilt (in the UK) or sold for rebuilding.

Welcome from a fellow newbie. I had a plan after collecting my RD250LC to ride it during the summer then do some tidying up and some upgrades over the winter but it seized on the way home. So am now rebuilding the engine but still hope to get some riding in this summer and will still do the planned tidying up in the winter. Deep pockets are needed but most parts are available.

So do I just buy a new crank, it seems a lot easier to buy a nice new one from PJME than shipping the worn one to the UK and having it rebuilt and shipped back.

Ok then its the right main bearing. It seems to have self destructed as midlifecrisisrd said as it seems to have been stood a while.

With a weak mixture wouldn't the top end seize first? No marks in the top end and plugs look ok. Looks like a rebuilt crank then only trouble is not sure about that here in Switzerland. So then next question is anyone know of some where in the SE of England that can rebuild the crank in a few days as I do get back regularly?

I am still awaiting some tools to fully strip the engine but in the mean time I have a question. On taking out the air filter I found it to be perished with a big part of it missing. So having checked every where what damage would the lumps of foam do to the engine?

Top end all good so engine is now out on the bench.
So still not sure why its seized. No overheating before hand, no odd noises that would indicate
bearing failure it just stopped.
Will split the cases when the manual arrives just winging it so far!
