I have recently seen a few images online of RZ350s with YZF-R125 tank conversions. Since I'm in the US, and YZF-R125 are not sold here, I'm not able to see one up close to do a detailed inspection. Therefore, I am curious if anyone here has done this conversion and willing to share some details? From the research I've done, it appears that the first two generations 2008-13 and 2014-18 both have have plastic tanks with a plastic cover, while the newer generations 2019-22 and 2023+ have steel tanks with plastic covers. Is there an advantage to the plastic tanks, or to the steel tanks? Since both style tanks are designed for use with fuel pumps, any tips for removing the fuel pump and installing a fuel tap? Perhaps someone has built their own custom tank and used the YZF cover? If anyone can share some details would be much appreciated. Thanks! MT2 (2014-2018 model year bike) has the same fuel tank set up as the YZF-R (the tank cover is slightly different in design between the MT and YZF-R but essentially the same thing). The fuel pump outlet can simnply be blanked off, it's on top of the tank so no good for gravity feed anyway, and the tank itself is about 4mm thick polypropylene and apertures were cut in the bottom to allow fitment of a regular fuel tap bolted in place with an NBR gasket cut from 3mm sheet to seal it.

Thanks dusty350 and urbantangleweed for the very helpful information. This is exactly what I was looking for. This info makes me feel much more confident in selecting a YZF-R125 tank for my Tigcraft/RZ350 project. Now I just need to decide an appropriate tail, but that is much easier than sorting out the fuel tank.
I should also mention that Topman350 does some amazing builds! I look forward to spending more time ready through his build threads.

Bear in mind the MT/YZF-R 125 fuel tanks are only 11 litres capacity, on a 350 2 stroke, you get to visit the fuel station regularly!
