I do like to see you making chips Steve! They get feckin everywhere ๐คฃ No matter how much I sweep, hoover, change shoes I'll still find a bit of swarf in a random bit of the house ๐ Interesting work though, good to do something away from the normal bike jobs ๐ Steve

yes I agree Steve, its nice to do something other than cleaning and restoring. I also have managed to get swarf all over as well since I got the lathe, but its so damn useful and mine isnt a fancy one, it really just spins stuff lol

Often find random bits of swarf around the house (in my hair too of course!) and typically my wife's feet are great metal detectors in the summer!!

Bracket roughed out enough to offer up and work out where the master cylinder needs to go and see if it will work out Steve

Later R1 master cylinder arrived so bracket made and looks like it will fit fine I'm going to change the fork on the bottom of the actuating rod for a rod end bearing to keep everything in line Front brake lines all fitted now too, rear line on order Steve

Final trimming of the rear master bracket and it's ready to go for powder coating along with the front footpeg brackets, straightened up horn brackets (christ they were mangled) and another bracket made to adapt the twin horn bracket onto the XJR bottom yoke Steve

There is a lot more work to do with mangled parts in 2023 than 2013, or even 2018, as we reach deeper into the parts barrel Good work m8!

Cheers guys
Someone had the great idea of flattening one of the brackets and the other was bent at both ends
At ยฃ140 for a pair of new pegs I've stripped 4 down to make 2 good ones. Thankfully you can get new pins and springs cheaply
I take it there was a change in the pegs as both pairs were original but one set had olive plated brackets and the other was black painted

New gasket waiting to be fitted. I'll wait till the morning so I can get the compressor round and blow out any coolant remnants from the stud holes before buttoning up again Fowlers wanted ยฃ65 for the gasket, got one from a reliable source for ยฃ45 posted but still too spendy Steve

I'd picked up a used Rentec rad grill a while back and had it powder coated Went to fit it to the aftermarket rad and found the holes were 2mm out (was wider across the way) so had to mill them outward a little to get it to fit Steve

Moved on to electrics ๐คญ Took a repro front brake light switch and horror of horror cut the switch off ๐ฑ Got the crimps and heat shrink out and used the lead to make up the wiring for the Fazer switch connections on the master cylinder Connected up the headlight bowl wiring, replaced a couple of missing bullets and fitted a new twin horn loom Only thing left is to sort out another headlight bulb connector as the plastic housing on it is smashed Steve

Cut the chain to length and fitted it. Chain run looks good Locked the rear wheel with a long bar through a sprocket hole and managed to torque the front sprocket and fold the tab over Steve

Picked up the brackets I dropped off the other week for powder coating Couldn't use my usual coater as closed for holidays so went to another one Think I got my pants pulled down ๐คจ 2 little horn brackets, 2 front footpeg brackets (the little ones that hold the folding peg onto the footplate), the rear master cylinder bracket and the bracket for adapting the twin horn bracket onto the bottom yoke so all in it was 6 small brackets 40 feckin quid ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ That's double what the other place would be ๐ก Anyway, horn brackets all bolted up, just waiting on some little spacers arriving to mount it all. Could have made them on the lathe but time is tight and I'd rather spend the limited time I have on other jobs just now Steve

Then onto the rear brake/footplates Had to mill a cut out to allow the pivot bolt to clear and milled down and drilled/tapped the return spring to make it clear the master cylinder push rod Steve
