Stripped the seat down for recovering. Had the catches and captive bolts zinc plated and scrubbed the base within an inch of its life Cover, scrim foam and spray adhesive all waiting Pity the seat foam has seen better days π Will have to think about what to do with it π€ Steve

Looks good. IMHO get a new foam, its much better than an old one. I know π Tho old foam has a small crumbed section each side at the front. The bit that usually looks a bit lumpy on some seats. The front top edge is a bit crumpled as well The problem is that the only seat foam I can find is on ebay from p and k classics and is Β£90 delivered, I'm sure they used to be Β£60ish π Steve

Eek, yeah I have one of those on one of my bikes that Rob here bought and didnt use so sold to me, its a good foam.
I wonder if the webike Mizuno one fits the OEM cover shape... they look the same-ish? what is one of those landed?

Too expensive I'm afraid
Webike is strange with post as they discount some and then others are vastly different for similar items
I bought one of the complete seats for myself and the post on it was cheaper than buying just a foam
Go figure π€·ββοΈ

Is it worth messaging them about surface post? I did and we have that option now for Aus, but it does go away at times... a nice email and they do it for you even when its not available on the system. just a thought... youd have to wait tho...

Time is the big killer. I want this bike finished and with its owner ASAP The seat foam from them is $70 so by the time there is post then possible import duty I'm at the price of a P and K one They send me a discount yesterday so will mull that over Steve

Haven't spoke to them direct this time. There are no prices on his site which is strange so just in his ebay shop
Spoke to him years ago and it all seemed quite spendy. Was more interested in doing the whole job

Ignored the seat foam for tonight and measured the front lines and ordered them
Couldn't order a rear on as when I offered up the hanger/brake master the rear banjo hits the feckin swing arm top brace π€¬
NK didn't mention that problem when he did the arm conversion π

Oh hang on π€
Was trying to line it up but the brake pedal was clashing with my ABBA stand
I've now removed it and stuck it on the side stand and bolted it all on and it's tight but clears I'll have to see how much the brace actually moves forward as the suspension compresses
I may get away with a few mm off the inside of the hanger to shave down the mount thickness then make wider spacers to compensate for it
That along with a dome head banjo bolt may just do it π€

Whats the rear master like? I ask as some of the Brembos come in side or top orientation for the banjo and you can just swap to the type that works. I did that on my XT500 rear brake conversion and the saving of the 5mm ish banjo was more than i needed at the pivot.

It's a rip off Brembo unit the same as YPVS with a top fixing lug and rear banjo
It may still be OK
I picked these copies as it has a long pushrod which allows the modded lever arm to be down at the pivot so the fulcrum is correct
I saw a lot of the disc conversions where they had simply welded on an extra bit to the lever where the rod usually attaches
This fudges round the length of the shorter activating rod but means the force to the master cylinder is rotational as it does not come from the pedal pivot
I did have a look at the Nissin master with built in res from my TR which is a top mounted banjo but obviously if I use a different master I'll have to make a suitable bracket from scratch
Luckily I never got a bracket welded to the frame π

Stuff it, decided to try and repair the seat Glued the foam onto the base then worked on the front bottom edges cutting out the damaged foam edge and glueing in layers of thin foam Then spray glued yhe whole foam and laid over a sheet of scrim foam Another layer of glue then the polythene moisture barrier New stitched cover, heat gun and my new air stapler toy and its done OMG, air staplers are brilliant, absolutely effortless π Steve

Cheers, it did turn out well in the end
I've only stapled every couple of inches just now. I'll let it sit in the warm dining room for a couple of days and see how it settles before filling in the gaps

Top job on the seat Steve. There is not much you wonβt tackle yourself. That is another feather in the cap. Air stapler is the way to go.

Great work Steve, knew you could do it if i could do this as a spotty teen lol Cover looks pretty good, who's that from? It took a bit of heat and stretching but its on lol When I first offered it up I thought it was too small to wrap round the sides but by the time it's pulled into the contour it is fine Like a woman putting on spanks π€£ Was from a guy on ebay. Thought it would be better from someone who actually makes them instead of someone who just buys them in www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353401129846Steve

Still waiting on the later R1 rear master cylinder to arrive but thought I'd start roughing out the bracket Bottom end will be the same so drew a template onto some 6mm alloy plate and started milling it out Steve
