For anyone looking for scarce 500 parts, I’ve got a whole bunch of cylinders, heads, pipes, carbs, etc. If I can help anyone out let me know. J

The last time I popped in for a browse they had a Mars Bar RD250LC up for 11 grand!!! Now mine is a really nice bike, not standard, but way better than this one and I would not value my bike close to even half of that. My lotto win bike would be an RC45, they had one in that had been sold for 28k and it had been left at the place for the best part of a year as the bloke that bought it daren't tell his wife. What a waste.

This one is a little delight: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124559214977?ul_noapp=trueI guess since its started at 99p that we will see what the market really will stand for a partial bike in bits... and some of those bits are useless or aftermarket and the frame number is iffy (mentioned but not shown) so I will say its probably an 80s ringer. I will be watching with interest as this is the very bottom of the RD500 market. What do we think chaps? I would like to think it stays under £1k, but covid tax and stupidity know no bounds...

I think anything he gets over 99p is a bonus. You'd have to really want that to buy it. But there is no denying that the RD500 is a niche bike with some pretty faithful enthusiasts, and they've spent a terrible amount of money on them, so I think they'll still generate some good money if the right person is looking for that particular thing at the right time. As the saying goes, they're worth whatever people will pay.

I tried to buy an RD500 when they first came out, as a young bloke the bank wouldn't give me the dosh. I still hankered for one though, and after lc's, ypvs's and a tzr I bought one and owned it for the best part of a decade. Did all I asked of it, was a shit load of fun and it was well worth the £2,300 I paid... but I'm glad I wanted one then and not now.

After owing a 31k new in 1983, as an early retirement present to myself I bought a German import one a few months ago. All I know is that when I am tinkering with the bike bike in garage with the radio on or riding it, I don’t think about investment value, I’m enjoying myself too much. Can’t wait for spring!

If everyone thought like that we'd be better off, the problem is the people that buy them as an 'investment' and then try and sell them at stupid prices.
