No, that's still a worry, just said gastrointestinal, but no cause listed, even his release notes just said feed as normal.was it something he ate that I didn't see, or a bug he picked up? I've no idea, but I'd like to know so I can try to prevent it happening again. He's had a good night, slept well, fed a bit of his normal food, slight small bit of sickness, but after two weeks of fluid diet mainly, that was expected settling back into normal eating, rolled about on the grass in the sunshine, and lots of fuss off the wife.

That’s great news Rigga and so happy for you all including Casper of course.
It won’t take him long to get into his old routines

Hi Rigga
Keep his diet fairly simple for a few days, boiled rice, boiled chicken, add some vegies in there and not too much fat either
His digestive system needs to recover before he starts on his normal diet
No chocolate and definitely none of onions or garlic or similar, the last two never and only dog chocs
Only spoil him with pats and rubs etc
It would still be worthwhile washing all his bedding toys and food bowls with bleach and give them a good rinse, just in case there are any nasties hiding in there

Excellent news. I did think it wasn't going to end well when I started reading. Dogs offer non conditional love and are always mega happy to see you, that's what make it hard to lose them. We had a Westie some years ago and it was heart wrenching when she went.

Well an update .....
Casper is absolutely fine, but we have taken on board another one! Picked up a 8 week old salt and pepper Schnauzer on Saturday, after 4 years' I've forgotten how puppies are, f**k me he's hard work, little bugger won't settle at night and howls, luckily having spent all my life in noisy environments, and around bikes, I can't hear him and sleep great, however the poor wife can, and is suffering a lot of sleepless nights. Sleeping like a babe now we are up though.

Great news Rigga, fun times ahead We nearly got another Springer last week. My missus and daughter have wanted another since we lost Millie last December. Long story short - missus finds some pups for sale in Pontypridd, pays a deposit, we go last week to see the 3 week old pups. Little terraced house, peeing down with rain, next door neighbour outside pumping up his tyre after it's been deflated, again, by the people we are here to see We wait a fair amount of time for the door to open - long enough for the neighbour to tell us it's basically a puppy farm, with 16 adult dogs in the house and garden, plus any pups from litters, which there have been at least 3 litters this year ! He tells how he has reported them to the RSPCA, as have other neighbours, but nothing seems to get done. Anyway, eventually the door opens, we see the mum dog and the pup we reserved is brought out, covered in shit, as is the Mum dog. Covid stops us doing any more, although neighbour said no one ever goes in the house, even pre covid, and we could see from the hallway it was a minging shit hole. 300 mile round trip, and £300 deposit that she will not refund. Has since re-advertised the pup using a different name. She has the potential to earn 11k from each litter of pups, so you can see it can be a lucrative business for someone like her. My wife isn't normally caught out like this, but it all happened very quickly regards deposit and reserving a dog, and I was told after the event ! Covid seems to have changed the rules and prices with regards to pups unfortunately, and we are going to see much more of this I'm sure. I've got an email ready to wing it's way to the local RSPCA office in Wales, with screenshots of all the messaging between us. Hope they take action, for the sake of the animals if nothing else. Dusty

Rigga if you’ve got 2 you may as well have 4, that’s the thought process with my missus 😁. Enjoy the little bugger they are fabulous 👍. Dusty, it’s heartbreaking when you come across this, the b*****ds need prosecuting as you say seems prices are on the up and people without scruples will jump on the band wagon. Hopefully the rspca will act on it.

Dusty, sounds like you had had a lucky escape. £300 is a lot to loose, but with all the potential heart ache along the way, your better off out of it. Hope the RSPCA sort them out and prosecute them, banning them from owning animals.

That's awful Dusty. I really don't understand people like that. Hopefully the RSPCA will shut them down for good.

More than one way to skin a cat (dog)
If no joy from the RSPCA try HMRC or the dept of work and pensions
Dobbing folk in is something I don't usually get involved in )although taking taxpayers money you aren't entitled to doesn't agree with me morally) but if these folk are profitting out of animal neglect then they deserve it

Yea, I have considered HMRC too. On the way home, my daughter did some digging on the internet - amazing what you can find on social media. Turns out the woman had a suspected arson attack at the farm she uses to keep her horses at. Luckily the Fire Service turned up quickly, and saved the cat and it's litter of kittens that were in one of her sheds. Another shed was completely destroyed. Makes you wonder if she has pissed someone off ? If you breed more than 3 litters of pups in a year you have to register as a breeder. Neighbour reckons she has bred at least 3 this year. 6 Springer pups were available at £1800 each, plus she was keeping a 7th, a bitch, no doubt to breed from in the future Dusty

FFS
When did dogs get so expensive
Back in the day if your dog had pups you were begging people to take them for nothing

FFS When did dogs get so expensive Back in the day if your dog had pups you were begging people to take them for nothing Steve I guess it's the same old story of supply and demand. People have had a lot of time on their hands with cv19 and decided a dog will help with company, exercise etc. I just hope that people bought their pets for life and not to sell on or get rid of as life eventually gets back to normal next year.

So some pictures, this puppy was also from wales, been looking for an addition since casper was ill, primarily as a companion for him, but also that time made me realise how much he meant to me and the thought of him not being there, all selfish thoughts, but another dog a few years apart from each other would prolong the love and affection. Price wise he was the normal cost pre covid, I did say to the wife I wouldn't dream of paying the highly inflated prices that ive seen advertised. Both parents were pets, and five puppies were the result, happy with the breeders in all communication and videos, and when we met them and collected him.

Alfie obviously is, Casper is still wary of this new addition in HIS home, gives him the occasional snarl when the little in is trying to hang off his ears, but its fairly pleasant interaction. Hopefully when the puppy stage has worn off, they'll be best buds.
