I got mine from Grampian.
Norbo has LC cranks in stock too, and exchange ones.

Just noticed on my PC monitor that I can see strange wear on bottom rings...anyone else seen anything like that. It was not evident by eye. Top ring looks to have sealed very well, so hardly any blow-by getting to 2nd ring. Piston ring wear on a two stroke engine like this is more complex due to the extra flexing of the piston rings moving over the exhaust ports etc. The wear on each end of the piston ring is normal. Minimal wear should be found at the sides where the gudgeon pins are.

Fitted reed blocks. Did leak down test and found a small hole in side of inlet where the wall was very thin from fitting YPVS reed blocks. Ordered some JB Weld.

Looking like it is coming along nicely apart from hole in inlet. Have you fitted 2 base gaskets and a spacer because of mods to head? Have your barrels been skimmed as well?
Has motor been tuned as well?
Another build i am really looking forward to coming together. You are doing an amazing job as always. I admire your attention to detail.

Yes, I have 2 sets of base gaskets, got a 1mm spacer between them. Ended up with 0.25mm Siamese base gasket on the bottom, then the 1mm spacer plate, then a 0.25mm gasket on the right cylinder and a 0.4mm gasket on the left. This is only possible on this engine due to having separate heads :-)
The cylinders were only skimmed a small amount to get them dead flat. The spacer is more to replace the missing head gasket. The cylinders are ported, and makes 57hp. Has Zeeltronic ignition, standard carbs, modified airbox, TSA exhausts. Dyno setup.
What is interesting, is that in different engine casings and using a different crank, but same pistons, the base gaskets were the same, so either this crank or these casings are 0.1mm to 0.15mm higher on the left cylinder, but compensated with different base gasket.

Squish measurements :-
Lower base gasket 0.25mm Siamese Spacer plate = 1.00mm Upper base gaskets 0.25mm Right, 0.40mm Left
Left Cylinder
Front = 1.01mm Rear = 1.01mm Left = 1.02mm Right = 1.02mm
Average = 1.015mm
Right Cylinder
Front = 1.03mm Rear = 1.04mm Left = 1.03mm Right = 1.02mm
Average = 1.03mm

I would like to get a zeeltronic for mine for mine.Do they make much difference? 57hp is a result. When i get round to my engine i need to measure both sets of barrels to work out how much has been skimmed off the top of my tuned ones. When i get round to that , i may ask for some advice from you as i know i need to run 2 sets of base gaskets and a spacer. Will need to know what thicknesses i need to suit.

To run a more optimum squish, you will probably need to get your heads re-profiled, as the compression can get too high with the standard combustion chamber. You need good squish and volume to work well :-)

You need good squish and volume to work well :-) And that is the reason i will be on +2mm pistons......didn't do anything with volume on last build..... Worst thing is, when i first got the bike, it went like stink. started first kick every kick and revd cleanly from about 3k. The barrels were skimmed and the head had been skimmed to death!!! but never had an issue with detonation. Wish i had had kept the spacer in a safe place so i knew how thick it was.....or better still......i wish i hadn't been on a session down the pub when i decided to remove it. Anyway, sorry for butting in to your thread. Will ask more when i get round to doing my engine.....but on another thread.

That is class........that you have 2 builds on the go and can still steam through them this quick and still do such a great job is amazing. Love the headlight brackets.

The list of jobs is getting shorter too. Just getting a high security insulated roller garage door sorted, so should be warmer in there to do a few more jobs.

I have an o ringed head for my ypvs but don't have the o rings, any clues where to buy them would be a great help, also what silicon did you use on the head. Cheers Trevor
