That's a bit like my build, but in my case it was because it was painted turquoise, purple and red and a few other shades including rust!

RD 350 LC - 1982 - bounty like my bike in the 80's, finally got an original UK one. Recent build of 1983 31k LC2 in French Blue Triumph Street Triple R (sorry!) Rough 250LC frame and casings that one day will be a bike
The bolts are underneath the mudguard going up into the bottom of the fork brace, so not easy to keep an eye on. Also, I did not want to have to tighten them super tight, so I thread-locked them, nipped them up, then lock wired them so they will never come loose, as they could in theory come undone and touch the tyre...
