guys i know chris from this forum and now keep in contact with him in fact he was down my house last week, and he is a nice fella, the bike was sold over a month ago, the guy was on the phone asking him to finish the build, he has no issues selling his bikes close to asking price he has built 3 now
i had a 250lc hybrid with engine numbers missing, bought it from ireland when the bike turned up i noticed it straight, after speaking to the owner he said he did it instead of telling the dvla it was a 350ypvs instead of a 250lc

As I said if the police are happy that they know it’s been stolen recovered and has paperwork , where do you think parts come from breakers yards they are either accident damaged or stolen recovered and have come from the insurance company’s to break for parts that most people buy it’s a unfortunate and not right but the problem is there , if you haven’t nicked it yourself and ground them off the paperwork adds up and you declare it to the insurance as with any modifications We understand that, but on this occasion it wasn't stolen and recovered and there was no paperwork. On the day of sale when I found out the seller supposedly called and spoke to the local Bobby and he just said it was ok ...lol. . I then rang the same policeman and it said he was on holiday ! That engine is hotter than Prince Andrews Alibi. At this point I wasn't prepared to negotiate. No one in there right mind would .

The deposit was given on the 15th Jan and the incident happened on Friday. I'm sure if he has the correct paperwork in hand the bike will be available for sale very soon.

Your story on the 350 /ypvs is unbelievable. Surely you sent it back or called the police. ? You really can't go putting whatever nicked engine you want in vehicles , grind the numbers off then act ignorant . If that's the case I'm going to put a 100k Ferrari engine into my van 🤣🤣

The point for me (and I assume others?) is the fact for 15 big ones you expect an RD to be spot on.
Not have something as basic/important as the numbers ground off.
What’s more is the apparent willingness to try and pass it on by saying they’ve spoken to the police and it’s OK!

As ex dibble cid I wouldn’t touch a vehicle without engine frame numbers no matter what the circumstances if stopped it could be seized and you nicked on suspicion of theft/twoc/handling stolen goods/ Then it’s up to you to prove the legitimacy and potentially tests are done on the vehicle to prove its history. If it is proven and just because the numbers have been removed they still leave traces of the number not visible to the eye, then previous owners are traced and they or the insurance company get the vehicle back doesn’t matter if everything else in the cases etc are new or what else has been added tough. So you end up out of pocket, with a criminal conviction no bike and no insurance company wanting to touch you ever again. Bit of a no brainer really.

Lol..you didnt have to !! Have you read the what veg wrote. It was not a stolen engine, I emailed the seller and he explained why he did it and even showed me pictures of the bike and engine numbers , also when I sold the bike I gave a free set of matching crank cases with numbers for the buyer, I suggest you get you facts right before you accuse someone of handling stolen goods I also had a jap import lc with. No numbers on engine

Ask Topman if your that intesested in his bikes, but looking at your posts your more interested in slaging him off and his bikes or more worried about what they are worth or what he sold them for, I am not getting into a debate I am not a old washer woman I am not interested, I am out like women dancing around a handbag having a gossip who cares for christ sake

Time for the mods to step in me thinks before things are said that can’t be unsaid. Its already been slanderous me thinks, a bit out of order really. 1 minute everyone is saying how great it was and now he is a pariah. Facts are what matter here, if you have none to prove opposite to what he says then you shouldn't say it. Its the British way, praise them up to shoot them down ASAP

Hello guys let me put the record straight firstly Richard frost is a bell end! when he 1st came to see the bike he asked about the name/build plate, where the engine number normally is stamped this isnt to hide anything in fact I offered to remove it so he could see what was underneath he declined I also showed him the reg doc V5 which has a matching frame number! the pic in this thread doesn't do the number justice its far more clearer with the naked eye also the frame has been power coated which don't help the pic.
He never withdrew from the sale I said I would give him his deposit back as he's not happy he also asked me to try and source engine casings to complete the sale I wasn't willing to do this... I even contacted the dvla for my piece of mind to ask if the engine was an issue they said all you can do because of its age is to take the bike to a reputable garage and have them screen the engine have this put in writing with the V5 and send it in to the dvla so the V5 would then say engine number not known.
The police officer I spoke with didnt at first answer after leaving him a message but he did then return my call he said as long as I have a receipt for the bike engine number or not its not an issue as long as the frame/chassis number match so after speaking to both important parties I'm happy with my purchase if anybody wants the officers number I still have it he really does exist.
The reason for keeping the number plate which the buyer got wrong twice on here was it had value and didn't want to let it go he wasn't bothered as he was looking at a new plate for the bike at around £10k.... I was having the mot done at his request yes with a garage/friend that mot's all my bikes the mot had to be done first for me to put in on retention its that simple.
Just to say I'm an honest person and love building bikes and don't need the money as I have plenty of that ...These bike are now so old and at a quess would suspect that there are very few straight original engines left I also would say that the intertals on most or all have been replaced time and time again my bike isn't original all the parts have been sourced from all over I've no idea where they originally came from it's just a creation from my mind that I thought someone would appreciate love or hate it it was bloody hard work... Remember there is shite paint on pieces of canvas worth millions that some folk wouldn't wipe their ass with.
Thanks for all the comments especially the ones with some sence you know who you are best wishes
Topman350 😀👍
