Hi everyone ,I've fitted koyo bearings and new seals in the wheels ,I also made my final rear wheel spacers from stainless ,fitted the rear wheel and it all bolts up nicely ,I'm waiting for my tyre's hopefully might be here tomorrow I then can get them on before lock down (finger's crossed) ! Fitted the rear master cylinder and pot,the reg rectifier and under tray and battery all going well so far ! I'm now at the stage where I need to spend a fair bit of money on things for it to move forward.๐ PXL_20201102_165019901 by Chris, on Flickr PXL_20201102_165709928 by Chris, on Flickr PXL_20201102_165723147 by Chris, on Flickr PXL_20201102_173044745 by Chris, on Flickr PXL_20201102_174339476 by Chris, on Flickr PXL_20201102_193954391 by Chris, on Flickr

Looks great Chris The powdercoating looks a nice job Dusty he's done a beautiful job with the powder coating my only tiny niggle is he's put it on thick ,frame wheels no problem but on the small parts it's been a pain to open holes out etc but not been the end of the world ๐

That's the main issue with powder vs paint, regards thick coatings. Powder wont sag like "wet" paint will if applied too thick, so it's easy to get a heavy coating of powder if not careful. Looks great though mate, and it is a great finish for bike parts Engine next ?? Dusty

that rear end is looking class chris! love the result with the console. i think the key is not to use an abrasive grade of sandpaper so there are no deep scratches to remove. nice one๐ช

Hi Chris Looking really good mate Not sure how you intend to paint the clock rims but I refitted mine first, masked the glass up and then spayed them. "Crimping" the rims back on needs a fair bit of force which would probably damage a painted finish if you did them separately. You can get a really sharp finish with masking tape on the glass/plastic lens. Dusty

And I agree regards the aircooled clocks - I think they look awesome and very much part of the coffin tank Rd's identity, much like Lc clocks are for the 250/350's. I've seen ebay prices rising sharply for aircooled clock sets this last year - ยฃ60 used to buy you a set with centre consol and bracket. Now I see them upwards of ยฃ200 Ebay prices dictating the market again Dusty

That's a good call about putting them back on then painting I see what you mean I would ruin the paint ,they were a sod to get off to ha ha !! Also I can get the trip knob off I don't want to force it either so I've left it in place ,Chris

I use pliers with tape on the top jaw to prevent marking the rims; 20161222_130157 by dusty miller, on Flickr With the top jaw on the rim, I close the pliers and pinch the crimp part underneath and at the same time move the bottom jaw inwards towards the main casing. You have to pinch it pretty tight to get a decent fold on the crimped part - would definitely spoil a painted finish. If needs be you can run a fine bead of either clear or black silicon around the crimped area afterward to seal it properly. That wont be seen when the clock is sat on the damper rubber in the cup. I bought new damper rubbers and mounting rubbers from Shambits - they were fine for this job Dusty

Photo from Chris by Chris, on Flickr hi. im really pleased how these turned out! i stripped them and got the delicate rims off and gave them a good clean inside dusty advised to put the rims back on before painting and glad i took his advice because it would ruin the paint getting them on again it takes a bit of time and effort with pliers taped up.then primed and painted them satin black, just waiting on new rubbers before i fit them into the cases.chris.

Hi ๐ ,just a little update I received my new wiring loom today and it's lovely ,great quality ,mine was old and brittle and needed new bit added in etc so this was a must and I hate electrics! Tony the guy from e bay was brilliant I asked him if he could make a 200 mm long link lead up for the cdi as I've moved it under the seat !he did that for no extra charge so that's great !! hi i got my forks back today from martin johnson i sent them down to him in bits with new seals bushes etc he built them up and made some new spacers internally cut the spring down a tad this was always the plan because i cut 50 mm of the tube length keeping the fork the same length the stock rd fork, as the tzr 250 fork is longer ,ive been excited to get them back and in too make a rolling chassis i couldn't resist putting the front wheel in (still waiting on a disc) .
