Hi everyone! Found myself with not much to do tonight as all my bits are away so I thought I'd look at the engine!! Ive been dying to get into it to have a look !! It came apart so well no problems ! I'm sure it's never been split ! Nothing Inside looks chewed up ,the crank nut is like new ! As was the clutch nut etc ! Crazy it's 40 years old !! But having said that it's been off the road since 1987 !! And it's a 1979 / 80 bike so it weren't about long really ! ,Any way it's getting a full rebuild ,cases vapour blasted etc etc , and it's passed the evening away π PXL_20201020_180459693 by Chris, on Flickr Not been on the road since 1987 so this is genuine 80's dirt it must be worth something??? PXL_20201020_181652138 by Chris, on Flickr Crank nut looks like its never had a spanner/socket on it. That looks good Chris Nice to find one that's had an easy life - so many of them are well shagged when we get them. Mine had some rusty gears when I opened it up - had to source some replacement gear clusters Enjoy the rebuild Dusty

Hi everyone it's been a good day ,I picked up a sheet of 18 mm ply this morning and cut the top for my bike bench !! The off cut I cut into 3 equal strip's I'll use as shelves so there is no waste !! PXL_20201024_115151262 by Chris, on Flickr PXL_20201024_115340096 by Chris, on Flickr PXL_20201024_114824078 by Chris, on Flickr I got my TZR out and on the bench for a picture so you can see how it is with a bike on top ! For me it's a perfect height and its nice and stable. Excited to build the RD on it ! In other news.. I picked up my bits from powder coating, i'm really happy the pictures don't do it justice i feel. I was priginally going for black wheels, but i felt it might be a little dark, i took the plunge and went for the gold as Yamaha's look lovely in the white/red/black/gold scheme. I'm happy i chose it ! Looks really nice against the black. Time to get building Chris PXL_20201024_124659512 by Chris, on Flickr PXL_20201024_124646546 by Chris, on Flickr PXL_20201024_124600834 by Chris, on Flickr PXL_20201024_124533950 by Chris, on Flickr PXL_20201024_124449255 by Chris, on Flickr

I agree. You have to be careful with Gold - regards the shade, but yours look great. You could pinstripe the tank and outline decals with the same gold colour - that would look nice

Hi everyone I've been busy tapping threads out and cleaning up the powder coating from holes ,it's thick so I had to open up the shock pin holes and few other bits. I've fitted new roller bearings in the swing arm ,new head set bearing's ,fitted the yokes and bar clamps , tonight I fitted the shock and swing arm.,I had the fork bottoms vapour blasted I'm going to give them a polish up I'd like a dull polish not mirror.its looking nice I think !!
