Thanks for all the likes. I really am surprised by the reactions of this forum sometimes.
I do have a question. What do you chaps think about a plastic wrap versus just painting it.
I think I would prefer paint and the only advantage I can see with the wrap is maybe covering the rough edges of the glass fiber. Another con from the wrap could be the mudguard might not turn out the same shade white as the rest as it's much darker to start with.

That is one hell of a looker. I see what you mean about the mudguard, it does look a little too high, but I only noticed it after you mentioned it...
Wrapping would be cheaper than paint but I don't think it would do the bike justice really.

Can't post pics with my low post count I guess but I've seen bikes painted with the 1990 Wayne Rainey livery using zeropaint 1066 or the Tamiya analog to it and they looked amazing.

Alex I agree with you about painting it but I want to test ride it first to see what else needs to be ironed out. The way the seat bolts to the front of the subframe bugs me and needs to be addressed. I have another seat unit to cutN'shut until I'm happy. I just think it would give me more enthusiasm to attack the fairing work if it looks nice. Hence question about cheap paint work or plastic cover work.

Really stunning Tobyjugs, it is a beauty whether you paint it or not, what about 'gauloise' colours? Dying to know what she is like to ride!

Yes I know itβs not an RD, but itβs got an RD based engine, so thatβs why people are interested. More to the point itβs a two stroke. If you think a classic LC/RGV hybrid is acceptable/liked, then why not a bespoke hybrid? Your last picture of the fairing and new white wheels really shows the finishing silhouette. I have thought it out of proportion slightly before now, but can see the finished bike will look βrightβ now. Jon

Mouse Hi Mouse I was a big fan of Christian Sarron an his colours back in the day. Problem is I'm out voted 2:1 so it will be red, white and black. One of those people is the owner of PS Tuning. I don't want to get banned from there. The last visit to his place there was a TZ750, TR750 and a lovely replica YZ500 replica using a TZ250 frame with a dry clutch RD500 block almost heaven

Gorgeous in plain white to be honest. It emphasises the shape which is great. I guess that's why I like the white with red speed block and green No. board of some of the TZ250's. I like minimalist paint jobs.
You could legitimately have a yellow number board seeing as it's in the 350 to 500 class.

You probably already know but some guys ran TZ30's in the 500 class by using a stroked crank to 351cc. They had more rides on the same bike doing it. I know a guy who did it but never actually had the stroked crank, just changed boards. Is 12 your number or is it someone you looked up to? Funny how the numbers you remember define your age and when you became interested in bike sport. No. 10 - Mick Grant, 69 - Whitham, 34 and 7 too obvious! My lad had 241. The reason was it was on his YZ125 when he bought it. Simple as that.

I'm not sure if i want to paint the fairing work or get it wrapped so that it is all the same colour. I'm looking for the cheapest option as i might still modify the fairing. Dont you dare cover this beautiful bike in $hitty Sticky back plastic! (its not a Blue Peter project that John Noakes or Valerie Singelton are making)! If you Wrap this bike, R. Lee Ermey might have something to say to you!

Do you know which year did they stop using the colour plate system?

My favourite combo is the white with red and black but as said simple scheme would suit it to
Sometimes a trick paint job takes the eye away from the detail of the bike and this one especially doesn't need tarting up to look good
I'm considering a plain paint job on the TR with just the S on the tank
You are a stickler for detail on the brakes too getting 300mm discs made
I just cheated and bought a pair of 298.5 TZ discs for my next build as they had a 21.5mm offset.
A lot cheaper to not spend 100's on disc spacers and trim 0.5mm off the pad top π

Just a small update, I've finally been able to get some wheel spacers made for the front magnesium rim. It's not such a big thing but I'm glad I've been able to do it. One min point is i bought some discs more than a year ago and now i can't find them. When measuring the rim up for discs according to internet sources it seems to be a Honda PCD from an RC30 or a Fireblade from 94 to 96. I built everything for 300 mm discs and the Honda discs were 296 mm. I thought the easiest solution was to just chop 2mm off the outer side of the friction material on the pads but after listening to two mates i bit the bullet and bought 2 discs from ISR. ISR sell the normal size and a larger size which is 320 mm. I thought this would be overkill on this bike and after speaking to ISR they just made them 300 mm to suit my calipers. I've just got to find them. Bugger So here it is with two white wheels. Another little job i have done is rubbed down and filled in the mould marks from when the seat was made. I'm not sure if i want to paint the fairing work or get it wrapped so that it is all the same colour. I'm looking for the cheapest option as i might still modify the fairing. I think i might have to do something about the front mudguard as it looks like it sits too high above the front wheel. I've never noticed this before until i fitted the white rimmed wheels. This year i've missed out on two chances to do some shake down tests and try it out on a track. This is also very frustrating. very nice

Mudguard looks fine to me, always bothered me when guards are too close as I couldn't get the tyre warmers on easily.. Is the profile of the tyre correct? That would have an effect as well.. The gap won't be so noticeable when the discs are on. Looks very pretty indeed...

He said the mudguard was a too tight when it comes to putting tyre warmers on. Also the tyre fitted now has the wrong profile. I need to check when I fit the correct size tyres.

Β Hi,still not a bad figure 115 ,once i had put carbon this and titanium that on my track bike i had to work on my own kgsΒ Β do you hope to have it on track this summer mart Hi Mart I signed in twice this year for Mettet and Folembray, but due to work commitments I missed both. I have the chance to go to Cartegena in October and it's for 3 days but I think that's a bit far away for track testing if something mechanically is not good. I only have to make the clutch action to my liking. I have tried to test the bike on the local roads close to my house. The roads are small and bumpy so difficult to check what's happening as it revs up so quick and pulls wheelie's too easily. Its difficult to tell if the clutch is slipping or not and stay on the road.
