I like The look of the double cylinder heads. How many steel balls did you fit to the stealth locker.

I like The look of the double cylinder heads. How many steel balls did you fit to the stealth locker. Thanks mate. I opted for 2 balls in each of the small trenches, so 36 balls in all. The ball bearings supplied were the size you recommended, so that problem has been addressed. Thanks for all the comments chaps Mark

Happy Fathers day chaps Ignition and generator I installed the PD generator, remember there is an extra pick up installed. This means, I have 2 pickups set at 90 degrees (and 2 magnets in the flywheel). This will give me 4 triggers/ power strokes per rev of the crank! At 9,000 revs, 36,000 bangs per minute SDC12200 Next, I changed the connectors and colour coded the 2 pickup wires (yellow and brown- the same as the ignitech) If you look closely, you can see where the flywheel has been lapped onto the crankshaft with valve grinding paste. SDC12201 After the flywheel was fitted, I bolted on the genny cover- the new pickup section looks as if it belongs SDC12202 I cable tie the 2 pickup wires to the alternator cable, route it all on top of the engine using my new wire guides. I used a 25mm grommet in the crankcase hole where the cables pass through. I also test fitted my clutch cable (using a YBR125 custom cable after great advice from Yogi) SDC12203 I then fitted my tie bar bracket adapter plates, and tie bars SDC12204 SDC12205Cheers, Mark

Phil Phil, you undersell yourself mate, the patience comes with knowing the result will be a unique bike. That's how I see my builds, more a work of art than transport. I love the problem solving and fabricating. Most of the builds on this Forum do it for me. They make my chemicals react! Thanks for the comment mate

Engine top end I have to assemble the top end so i can work out my squish. I always aim for between 1.1- 1.2mm So I assemble using stock base gaskets and my copper head gaskets. Cylinder head for 3 and 4 first SDC12206 And 1 and 2, note the blank bolt for the R/H temp sender SDC12207 I then work out my squish clearance, and order my base gaskets(and other gaskets) from Rob(4L0 4ever). Rob is brilliant to deal with, he makes what I need, and I then clean up everything and assemble the top end. All 4 cylinders fall into the specs I want I now turn to the cooling hoses, these are the jigsaw pieces I need to make fit. (someones hidden the picture on the lid of the box ) SDC12208 The rear plumbing sorted (the other T piece fits between the thermo housings above the heads) SDC12209 Finally, the modified thermo housings fitted. The modification has to give access to the spark plugs and miss the fuel tank! SDC12210 Cheers chaps for all the comments, interest. Mark

Hey Mark, Thermostat housings look fantastic now they’re in situ, another example of the three step ahead thought process you’ve had to adopt with your builds!, fantastic work !. And at last a bit of luck goes your way with the squish clearance’s, the whole thing is looking just fantastic mate, congratulations on what is going to be one awesome machine 😁.

Plus one on the thermostat housings!
It's all the 'small' details such as that, that make you realise what a monumental job it is to create this bike, all the bits and pieces that are not at first obvious but are vital, amazing!

Awesome work as usual
I hope you don't mind me saying, I'd change those hose clamps to ones with a solid band with rounded edges
The serrations will cut into the hose as will the sides of the clamps particularly when the hose expands and contracts as it goes hot and cold

Those 'through worm style' and flat edged clamps eat hoses

Aren't those clamps on your engine build the same as Yamaha supply now ? Sure I've seen them as standard on newer bikes ??

The original type wire hose clips (P/N 90460-30158) have been replaced with the clips that I fitted on the triple. I used stainless clips identical to Yamaha's new clips on this build. For the clips I need (16 in total) Yamaha want £88.55 The new clip is P/N 9045032015 for the new jubilee type. This type of clip is also fitted originally to the coolant hoses on my 2007 R1 (2,000 miles from new).

That explains it then !! I've always used this type of clip on coolant hoses and never had any issues personally. I'm not sure there are any other options ?? Dusty

Thanks for the image Jon , I've never seen that clip before, the rounder edge must be a good thing. The hoses that I have used are the reinforced standard type, so I'm confident I'll have no issues with damage. I can see a possible issue if softer silicone hoses are used, but I've never used silicone hoses. I think I must have been living in a cave not to have seen that type of clip Cheers, Mark
