you not considered running her up til she is hot then giving the pipes a good spraying in WD40 when it hits the pipes it turns to steam but leaves a water proof slightly shiny glaze on the pipes, we used to use it for an engine bay dressing when we had gunked a car motor at vauxhall, its not going to offer the protection of paint or clear laquer but if im honest i dont think your going out in winter lol the other advantage is you wont need to whip the pipes off to do it either hehe, bet you have some WD kicking around so try it? it does work honest, you not considered having them chromed? with all the black a bit of bling may add a little something, jazz Thanks jazz, if I keep them bare I will have a go at the WD40 method never been a great lover of the chromed look

Thought I'd resurrect this thread from the depths ;D Well I didn't like the standard fairing so..... decided to go the YZR500 route, still at the getting adjusted properly stage (minus the cable ties) but you get the idea! I plan to keep the original paint scheme........... at least for now Brackets! Brackets! Brackets! When all you have is a pillar drill, vice and and a bit of head scratching Still need to fit the Zeeltronic and then the re-wiring begins With goodies on!

Vin hate to say but putting that fairing on will f##k it right up I saw this bike at Stoneleigh and it was perfect mate. It was a perfect blend of modern and retro Well opinions are a wonderful thing... especially on forums!! You may be right but we shall just have to wait and see!!

Well i loved it as it was, but know that Vin does superb work (evidenced here of course) so i reckon we shouldnt judge this one until its done, i reckon it will be amazing.

And tbh I really like the more modern looking fairings, I think it'll be stunning once done. Anyway, nice metal work too mate, I HATE doing aluminum jobs. I'd do the brackets in steel sheet cos it's much easier to work with. Aluminum just clogs cutting discs, the dust is insanely unhealthy and it's a PITA to do anything, well except drilling and tapping threads lol. I don't know if you have better tools/machines then me though but if you're making it all by hand then I'm well impressed by your efforts.

Thank you guy's If it is anywhere near this one (same fairing with original frame all be it the RZV one) then I will be well happy, my only concern is my plans on keeping the standard paint design, it may be tricky to get the top fairing looking nice? Or I go completely different paint design? Billy, My only power tools are a cheap pillar drill and jigsaw and imagination ;D.

very clever m8.no pics of how u did it That's because I didn't do it in the end mate Paul that has just migrated abroad from the rd forum got one of his welder friends to do it It ended up that it wasn't as straight forward as grinding a hole out and welding the different filler cap in, distortion and getting level was difficult apparently!

Only just seen this thread - i can only echo what everyone else has already said - stunning looking bike. IMO the new fairing does look better, but if i'm splitting hairs it now makes the tail piece look a little dated - but that is being ultra picky because it still looks amazing as it stands.
