It still appears in the sellers selling list so it looks like SOLD has been added to the description for some strange reason.

I think I'm very much stuck in the past when it comes to what I think things are worth. Nuff said 😉

The annoying thing about that frame is I bought a really nice condition 31k engine off a guy a while back. I asked if he knew the engine numbers were legit, by asking if he had a logbook. He said he did have an Austrian logbook stating those numbers and that I could have it with the engine. I said surely that stays with the frame. He then said it didn’t matter as he’d binned the matching number frame as it had the back chopped off. Hindsight eh.

Do I get any commission for advertising it on here? I wanted to get peoples opinions on value, and to me I could see another 2 or 3 hundred to repair that making it a bit steep in my eyes? The bar is constantly moving with RD prices, and we all want to know what is the norm or a one off? Genuinely, well done. Jon

Jon Fair comment Jon but for anyone wanting to build a hybrid etc and have a motor but no chassis how are you going to do it ? I'm not saying that's the case with the one I have sold but its not getting easier finding UK frames with a V5. Regarding commission I will sleep on it

I agree. If that had been uncut, straight, un-rusty and with V5; I’d of said it was about today’s price, based on what is selling.
I suppose if the hybrid back end is where your going, then the price is right,
Just takes some getting used to if this is the norm. Albeit around 5-10 years go I bought a matching numbers YPVS frame and cases for around £300 delivered. Now I know you can harp back and say it’s overpriced today based on past prices.
I see sellers on EBay selling second hand stuff for more than you can still buy new. Which is where this thread originated.

Wow, UK prices for parts are still crazy. I guess even if whole bikes are seeing a slow down (there was a post about restored/nice LC's at high prices being slower sales now just this week) then the spares prices will follow some time later as there are still a bunch of guys who bought projects during lockdown who are still looking for parts. I do think some of those projects will come back on the market if there are no more lockdowns and/or parts prices stay strong and then the cost of building a bike exceeds the restored price of one you can buy and ride today etc. I posted an Aussie 500 project ebay sale on here a few weeks back that went for what i consider a lot of money when you consider what a completed / usable bike would cost, but maybe covid tax is here to stay, time will tell.

Yep thats mine, Here's one that sold at £7,600 with 36 bids. Followed swiftly by another at the same money smc bikes recently sold some one at 9k. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-RD250LC-1981-UK-BIKE-FROM-NEW-MATCHING-NUMBERS-/313460797713?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286An on that one to the best of my knowledge didn't gerry pell retire 10 years ago or so. I've left the engine apart for one reason there's so much skullduggery going on I've previously bought a bike that was meant to be fully rebuilt (a norton) only to get into the engine and find the engine hadn't been done. Which I've now just finished ready to ride. So anyone who can build lego can put an elsie together at the point its at and you can see what's actually been done an not look at a bike that revs for a second on a path. If it doesn't sell lads I'll just put it together an get her running again can't be any more straight up than I am being about her I'm mentioning things and pointing out things that other people wouldn't bother to. If you bought one of the imports that's all together you won't know what the inside is like least someone can come and look at what's been done with all the receipts.

Left the nos carbs with it which arnt included in the 1400 quid figures of expenditure which I have receipts for all of it all not used. Get that commando done great bikes

You really after an inter Tom? Was watching a clip ealier of the triumph gp500, I always remember watching a real video of them when I was younger, dad and older brother both had bonnies, loved them. We also had an engine of one in our science block at school ( they were the same engine as the generator in a Lancaster bomber) wonder whatever happened to it? Anyway apologies for thread hijack👍

If you ever need to know about bits mate like that or who to deal with pop me a pm dealt with everyone can be made super reliable mines given me 0 grief. My 68 commando took a bit of sorting though but that was due to the previous lads work was a stunning show winning all matching numbers bike but the inside of the engine which I couldn't see in which was meant to have been done had smashed guides incorrect pistons glass media in it, wrong crank bolts. Ran great on the guys path lmao till I went out on it the day after just finished her did the full rebuild myself apart from the engineering on the head which I sent to seager did epic work on it. Slotted the engine back in the other week. Expect nothing but reliability now an planning some big trips abroad on her. Best mod is fitting new carbs an getting a new pump, when I put new amals on the 650ss it truly transformed the starting performance and running.

FS1E engine £795 Seems OK until you check out the engine number that appears not to be the one put there by Yamaha.

Have new guides and cam....luckily.... as could not believe the costs today! Mine too gave ZERO problems and went like stink, still has fibreglass tank. Only quibble was braking, but that can be solved.

This is on E-bay, doesn't look too bad, but, where do you buy bike clown shoes to change gear? Does the swinging arm nut look loose too? It also has my pet hate of no clips on the fuel hoses and oil feed lines. A fair bit of money gone into it but would need a total strip down for me. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284331780809?hash=item42337eaac9:g:7gwAAOSwX4dgxlybNominating this one, as although Dusty created a thread on it, as its not what it initially purports to be, its a chancer trying his luck in order to maximize its potential value. Its not the iconic Hag Hughes black and white bike from the heyday of LC's, its a replica recently built, so belongs here.

These guys are in Aus and a lot of their prices are just mental. We have a few ebayers like that and they all are un apologetic about their prices and say they sell worldwide and the price is the price, intimating that someone will buy it from elsewhere so they are happy to leave the listing as-is etc. Most Aussies now just laugh at what they list stuff at remember parts prices here are not the same as the UK so if you guys think they are exy, imagine what we think. Sadly they do have some nice things listed, but no one can afford them. He had an LC2 bikini fairing for A$2.5k etc. nuff said.
