Ha Ha , thanks, my wife just can't understand it but she is very patient, I have bits hanging up again waiting for the next coat of paint! Another bit of a setback today again. Brake bleed nipple sheared off on the rear caliper and one of the front caliper pistons is seized solid> Ah well, two steps forward, one step back!

Exactly! Everyone is different and if a resto is for show use only, I can sort of understand it, but my bikes are all restored to ride and if people like them, all well and good. If not, who gives a monkeys! Hear hear.... ;D

Got it back together but a couple of problems. One of the powervalve disc covers, usually held in by an allen head bolt, had been held in by a self tapper, obviously the original threads were stripped, and also.....

......and one of the teeth of the water drive was snapped off, (actually, I'm sure I did it, as I heard a snap about 10mins after I had fastened the pump to the engine!), took it off and saw the break! Attachments:

Never mind, onward and upward as they say!. New water pump drive ordered, new cables ordered, new bolts ordered for the cylinder head and barrels so all will be waiting on my return from jollies. Attachments:

Also checked out the wiring harness, it is complete, everything accounted for (I think!) and a tidy up plus remove half a dozen of those crap blue connectors and replace with proper Japanese type connectors will have ready for refitting. So, although disappointed not to get the engine in, it has progressed and I have the sequence of events mapped out in my head to complete. While I'm away, has anyone had the problem of the powervalve cover before and how did you overcome it! Thanks Chris Attachments:

Hi Everyone, Not much progress to report I'm afraid! Had a couple of weeks away for the Qatar GP and I also forgot I was going to Imola the weekend after I got back to ride my RG500 in the Imola Miglia 200, great fun it was too! This weekend is now make or break. About to get stuck in to the bike, engine ready to go in so we'll see what I can get done over the next few days. I'll be posting latest pics tonight so fingers crossed no more unpleasant surprises, Cheers Chris

Not a lot of time left. hope you've had all the carbs cleaned and set-up correctly, they are a pain in the #### for this bike for some reason, always seem to be leaking and overflowing, no matter how many times they are stripped and cleaned.

Hi, You're right of course, not long left and a mountain to climb! Anyway, engine went in yesterday, I have today and tomorrow to get the plumbing, electrics and cable run, then we'll see where we are at. LC Bott, I cleaned the carbs out yesterday, one was really gummed up but OK now, main jets are 250 rather than standard 195's as the bike had bespoke expansion chambers on, but also came with the standard exhausts. At the moment I'm going to put the standard exhausts back on but I need the 195 jets before the carbs can go on, but, enough to do anyway! I'll either post again tonight, or more likely tomorrow night and we'll see what progress has been made and if there is still a chance! Cheers Chris Attachments:

Well, not a bad weekend, got a bit more done than what I expected to be truthful. Engine bolted in, electrics wired up and seem to be working after I briefly connected the battery off my 350YPVS (but needed charging, bit down on volts). I also ran the cables in and they all seem to be in the right places, new drive sprocket fitted and chain fitted, but link still needs to be crimped. Front exhausts painted and fitted, including silver painted end cans. Now the frustrating bits, couldn't fit the airbox and final routing of harness because the top radiator hose doesn't fit! I didn't want to fit the carbs because I need 195 main jets for the standard exhausts, which meant I can't final fix the cables and set the oil pump up. Still, I managed to strip the brakes down and I'll see if I can get a quick powder coating job done and if I can get the main jets and top radiator hose quick I'll be able to progress during the week a little, so not throwing the towel in just yet!

HI, I'm sure Brad wouldn't mind but if the decal was all that was left I would be a very happy man! I think I can still get it running, whether I would be OK letting Brad ride it without a good testing is another matter! Anyway, let's see, I'm still waiting for the water pump gear drive to arrive from Singapore. If I get it done I can get it on a dyno which would give it a good run, Thanks Chris
