2 more pictures of Auntie Elsie when she moved in . Looks great alongside the Katana. Takes me back to my mis spent youth A couple of great bikes you have there (and I spied a Ducati in there too) Reminds me of the early 80's when my group all had big jap bikes, inc a Katana 1100 and my 900SS, then the Katana guy flogged his for an LC and within a short period we were all on LC's and PV's! I hope you enjoy them both.

Sorted my Kickstart and took it for a little thrash out, lots of roads closed near me, “Surface dressing” or in other words b*****d chippings 😫

I saw a new Katana at the Cafe too. They look alright and have a GSXR1000 engine detuned to around 160hp...

I have seen one myself, I guess it's a Marmite thing as I really can't abide the new styling. Those rear number plate supports behind the wheel are just sooo ugly. I saw a CCM at Box Hill on Sunday that had the same arrangement and that was unappealing too. To me the only part of the bike that pays homage to the Kat's of the 80's is the Katana symbol on the lower headlight fairing. No wonder Suzuki are pulling out of Moto GP due to falling sales, if this is what they are offering.

But that styling pleeez what were suzuki thinking ? I guess I am biased owning an original Katana but 5hiso e reminds me of the teapot gsx 600`s ba kin the day Total agreement on the rear supports but suzuki aren't the only ones doing it, Ducati does it on the multistrada which I'm partial too and the Diavel which I'm not partial to other than passing off harleys owners with one as it's superior in every way to there efforts and that was Ducati's first attempt at a cruiser how long harley been at it? But I digress There's a quote goes something like , I like new things when they get old May the "new Katana " will grow on me but I doubt it.

Nice pic of the Kat, complete with Bandit lid, and an 1100 too just like my mate Stalky had. Parking that and my 900SS next to each other always gathered a crowd. It was an eye catching bike 40 years back and nothing has changed. I suppose they can shift a few new ones under the 'retro' banner (in name alone) but beyond that, why would you? The engine is much the same as the naked and GT versions of the GSX, which are both better looking bikes, IMHO.

Its actually a 1000 the homologation bike But I had to put us spec carbs on for registration purposes Here in the land of fruits and nuts AKA Gavins republik of kommiefornia

Thats what I do and I try to haggle with the guy every time about the fact im not using one of his blanks so why should i pay the full price, he never wavers. He also never offers me his blank in the deal either. Key guys are hard nosed b*****ds lol

Stripped the Hycote engine enamel off YPVS cylinder head, sorry but it is total shite and chips if you look at it !
I know not petrol proof but Pastikote BBQ paint holds up good and as long as you are careful removing the tank etc you are OK
The BQ paint has been on my Bonneville cam cover for at least 5 years and it still looks excellent

Replaced the gearbox oil from unknown to Putoline 75W light gear oil. Did the gear change shaft mod whilst the oil was out. 35k miles and the shaft had plenty of play in it. The unknown 2T green coloured oil is slowly draining out of the reservoir overnight. That will be filled with Exol Optima so we are on known good quality slippery stuff. That drive chain is on the 'to replace' list too, i do like a nice condition chain covered in Scottoil, makes so much difference. Andy.

That is one amazing transformation. He has done a stunning job. Not sure about the tyres, but other than that, it is a great build and another stroker hits the roads 👍

Impressive, More 2 strokes keep em coming Although a tuned banshee motor and those tires are going to make for an exciting ride when the motor comes on pipe.
