Looks better and cleaner on the photos than it is at the moment! Made a start taking the fairing off and having good look round the bike.

It does look clean in the pics . but when you drop the faring of that will show up all the muck that never gets cleaned. theres like a milion nooks and crannys in that kined of engine to clean down .

This ones a J reg. Started to strip the bike down and it's very dirty. Got plenty of red rusty nuts and bolts im struggling to undo. Does anyone know how to check the rear shock? It doesn't appear to be leaking anything but does look a bit rusty Also picked up a nice uncut rear number plate bracket and swapped the heated grips off the bike for a standard set of indicators with a lad at work.

Getting into it now then mate...Suzuki's build quality was never great so im not surprised re the fasteners. If anyone will know if the shocker is rebuildable or not, these will, give them a call www.k-tech.uk.com/contact.php

I didn't want to sound discouraging, but the build quality on mine was 'fragile' to say the least. Lovely engine, gear change one of the slickest I have used, but the panels were very flimsy, the discs warped, and the fasteners rusted, no matter how much WD40 I sprayed on them. All of that can be fixed, and over looked once you ride it though!!!. Enjoy Patrick Getting into it now then mate...Suzuki's build quality was never great so im not surprised re the fasteners. Whats that 'old timer' I see 'resting' in the corner ...no not the LC. I have a very tidy AJS 350 sharing space with my 31K, it got more use than the YAMAHA this year!!!!! This ones a J reg. Its a 1937 bsa 350 side valve with 7000 mile on the clock from brand new. It got put away in 1942 because the owner couldn't get petrol for it. The owner died in the mid 90's and the bike was found in the garage. We ve got the ration books for it some where for it. Me and my dad got a matchless G3 350 last year. That was put away in 1979, all we've done to that is change the oil had a check round it and have it mot'd

Well I've managed to remove the rear subframe from the bike. Got three of the bolts undone by pouring boiling water over the frame but on the last bolt in a fit of over confidence I rounded the head of the allen bolt. I bought a cheap easy out kit off ebay drilled the bolt and had a go with it. Never used one before and was very apprehensive about it I didn't want to snap the easy out in the bolt and make things worse. Anyway I took a deep breath and went for it and to my disbelief the bolt came out! The bike needs a good degreasing Also stripped the back shock down today to see if it still damped. Had to use a small pair of spring compressors to get the spring off. The collets at the bottom of the shock were seized and took a while to remove but eventually they came off and I got the spring removed Luckily the shock is still damping so Im going to give it a good clean and paint the spring and it should be back in business!

Well not done too much to the bike over the last couple of weeks but I did treat myself to a front paddock stand over christmas. I've aslo replaced a nasty looking bearing from the rear suspension linkage. Got a genuine suzuki part form my local bike shop Jeff Hall motorcycles for a very reasonable £21. I also found a flat spot in the front wheel rim which my me and my Dad have managed to knock back into shape with a soft hammer. Really pleased with the wheel as it runs true and means i don't have to find another front wheel.

Well progress has been a bit slow of late but I have managed to get some stuff powder coated. Heard about a local firm thats been going for just a couple of years so I would give them a try. Really pleased with the result! They shot blasted and coated my parts and the results are brilliant and they were very reasonably priced This is there website if anyone is interested. twobrotherscoatings.co.uk/and a couple pictures. Taking my wheels to be done next

Been making a little more progress. Cleaned up some nuts, bolts and spindles and had the zinc plated and they have come up really well. The foot rest look like brand new! Managed to get the shock back together. Couldn't the spring over the damper with the spring compressor's as they were getting caught on the damper. Had to get some screwed rod and some plates at either end of the spring and compress the springs. Once it was compressed I put a lot of tie wraps around the spring and undid the screwed rod and plates and the tie wraps held the spring compressed. Then I put the spring over the damper and got the collets back in place and one by one cut the tie wraps off. Very scary but it did the job! Got the swing are back in place and it looks a lot cleaner Also refurbed the battery box with some sticky foam and put some heat shrink over the lugs that hold the wiring. Got my wheels back from the powder coater's so I've got to fit new bearings and get my tyres back on. My pug thinks there ok!

Been making a little bit of progress over the past few weeks . Done a repair on the fairing. When I stripped the headlamp out a couple of the brass inserts came with it so I had to come up with way to repair them. I bought a cheap screen fixing kit off of ebay I stripped the rubber off of the fixing's to reveal the brass insert. I had to carefully file round one half of the brass insert to remove the lip so it would fit in the fairing. Then had to araldite the insert into the fairing. I also picked up up a very good hardly used rear tyre off of ebay ! very pleased with that!! Ive also remade the brake hose's reusing the old ends. I bought 2 meters of hose and new olives. Cost me about £15 pounds to do this rather than nearer £100 for new hoses. Ive got the new hoses on the bike. I have also replaced the front discs with EBC ones. And just a couple of photos of the newly painted footrests with the re plaited bit and pieces on them.

Well made some progress since my last post. While the bike was in this state I thought I would try and see if the bike would start which I thought wouldn't be much of a problem as the bike was running when I bought it. Well I was wrong! Took me a couple of days to get it running again. I filled the carbs with petrol and spun the bike over but there was nothing it just wouldn't fire. I whipped the plugs out and spun it over with them out and there was no spark. Testing I found I had 12v at the coils but it wouldn't spark so the next thing was the cdi ignition box thing. The manual said take the cdi for testing or replace the box. Looking on ebay the cdi's that breakers were selling were all about £100 so i didn't fancy punting that sort of money at a second hand box.I started looking closely at the cdi and the wiring loom I realised the connections were quite dirty and after talking to a few people they told me the ignition trigger coil worked on very low voltages so I though i would spend some time cleaning the connections. Also after talking with my father in law who has an interest in electronics he had a look at the diagram of the cdi and worked out that if it was triggering the ignition coils it would also trigger the rev counter. So I spent the next couple of evenings cleaning the connections refitting the wiring then spinning the bike over watching the rev counter and getting nothing. Any way I kept persevering with contact cleaner and some old spade connectors pushing the in and out of the the connections on the loom. I was just going to pack in late one night and though I ll give it one last go and bloody thing fired! Took me really buy surprise! Slowly but surely started getting the bike together About a week ago I got the bike MOT'ed and taxed so Ive now done about 100 miles on it. The Exhaust manifold came loose on my last ride out so I've got to tighten that back up and when Im happy the radiator not leaking Ill re fix the bottom fairings.
