Does sound a bit light that . Can depend on wind conditions, especially for taller or larger riders ;D Is it really running a 10V carb or 10W ?, 10V is a DT125LC Carb init ? Mine will get to 90 pretty quickly, the next 5mph to 95 reasonably quickly. It will do the magic 100 but it's revving its nuts off by then so don't make it do it very often. I have a GPS calibrated Sigma computer fitted to mine and I can tell you that 100mph on the speedo is a true 91mph

I would say 95 on the clock is good. Less than 90 I'd say not quite right unless you're a porker

when i had my mk2 125lc with a fahron 175cc top end,pwk 28 carb and a pipe built to suit the motor it would easily pass the 100mph mark id say 105-107mph on the clocks but i never tested it with gps sp probaly 90 odd mph in reality. oh i was 60kg (under 10 stone) at that time. looking back that damn thing was a nightmare to get running correctly and cooling was always a issue, would have been better left standard :/

I think 85 is within easy reach on the flat with most rds with a bit of upjetting and still have a useable bike

I got my dads Mk1 up to 79,5 mph, but I know it could have gone a little faster if the road didn't turn lol. I'd say it could have reached something like 82 mph at most. It was a stock Mk1 with 10w carb, exhaust etc. Now it has a small can Micron exhaust and it's way stronger when playing around on the lower gears. I havn't tried getting it to speed yet though as I havn't got it jetted yet. I think with the Micron pipe it could reach maybe...... 85 mph? That's with me on it though, I'm 11 stone (or about 70 kg's).

i can tell you a 125lc with at a speedo indicated 100mph feels mega dangerous. mine felt like it was flexing where the swing arm met the frame under hard acceleration and very unstable over 80 mph. all 3 125lc's ive owned felt scary over 65-70 mph tbh

I know all too well from experience how little things can make a big difference to handling on these little bikes. Get it all spot-on and they should be fairly stable. The only time mine gets a little lairy is a high speed wide cornering when it tends to get into a very slight weave but it never gets bad and I just ride through it. Probably a steering damper would sort that but I don't think it necessary ;D For example......, I take mine over to the IOM TT some years and a good example would be through the Quarry Bends. I can get the 125 upto 90 on the clock before entering them and can hold that speed from start to finish through them and it tends to weave a little all the way through ;D ;D Most common culprits are: Notchy or badly adjusted head bearings Oversize tyres (maybe one size over on the rear but never oversize the front !) knackered Rear Shock Absorbers (cr*p damping) Knackered Swingarm bushes

Back in 83 when my Mk1 125lc was new with micron, ledar, reeds, down a slight slope with a tailwind it did 106 indicated 2 up, with 2, 8 stone riders, now my Mk 3 which ive just rebuilt with allspeed, ive managed 75 in 4th, 80 in 5th, but its way too rich and needs jetting down, its got the valve fixed open, the only trouble is to go from 1st gear to 2nd gear powerband you have to give it full throttle, or it will drop out of 2nd gear powerband, (14,5stone rider!) i may drop a tooth on the front!

I'm 15 stone and I managed 75mph (speedo indicated) on my Mk1 and that was with no top piston ring (sitting upright too)...
My bike deserves a medal!

i bet im getting laughed at about my 100+ top speed mk2 125lc. im not telling porkie pies i was lucky to have the help of some very knowledgable people to help me buid it including ron fahron and baz from blue haze engineering. it was never reliable but it was certainly a bit faster than a stock 125lc and could get the speedo off the 100mph dial.

mine does (still does) 85MPH fine, any more and its against the red line so havent pushed past 85. Thats a mk1 with the new large can micron on and performance panel filter in the standard airbox.
Probably only doing 30mph though knowing clocks are probably way out lol.
