hello everyone I have been a long time reader and browser of this site and also the rd forum. Have started my own project finally after twenty years dreaming. It started with all those readers specials in performance bikes. I owned 2 power valves when i was younger, but kids and pot got in the way and I have spent the last 18 years with no road bike. I stopped buying bike mags when the gsxr took over the back page of pb. Three years ago i restored my XR500 twin shock but knew all along that it wasn't my dream bike, its just what was in the shed (had been for 15 years, in pieces). Anyway while buying bits for the xr on ebay I started looking at power valves again, and dreaming, you all know what happend next. £635 later I had bought the dream, (pile of overpriced scrap) seized, in bits, on a Q plate, mugged myself, like a lamb to the slaughter. 18 months later I have finally made some progress,so here goes this is my project. If you use photobucket just keep copy, paste as many times as you like. glad to hear you got started ;D any photos of the pile of scrap before you stripped it down most builds start that way then many months & an empty bank account later. Bling Bling

Hi nik I took no pictures of the pile of scrap as I was too ashamed, I only like to air my clean washing, I will take some pics of the redundant materials tomorrow to give you an idea how bad it was. Thanks for the tip re photobucket, will get that one sorted.

Very clean. I'd be surprised she's a matching numbers then?
Good luck with the build.

she was matching numbers its just that the numbers where stamped/ engraved in some dodgy fookers lock up rather than a factory in Japan. As a matter of fact I have two sets of cases with the same after factory number engraving applied, a frame on a Q plate with a new number stamped on the headstock and a log book with matching numbers all legit. Story was it was rebuilt from a write off blah blah blah. But on the plus side it came with 7 barrels ,2 heads, two sets of cases, 2 cranks(one totally f**ked the other welded but apparently good we'll find out soon), two tanks (both ropey) various pistons, metmachex swing arm, genuine allspeeds, some plastics which are also ropey, and good tyres (legal metzelers),two complete gear box's, enough to make me think it was worth a punt. I traded a pair of tuned 31k barrels with mark350lc for a legit frame with paperwork and reg plate and this is the starting point for this build, The Q plate is in storage totally stripped, for me its only worth money to a robbin b*****d so its gonna stay locked in the back of the container.

good onya, you can just tell , this will be a beutifull bike, thanks for sharing, , ken t I ain't got enough money or skill or equipment or time or patience to make it proper nice but id like to think that over a number of years it might evolve in to something worthy of being on this forum untill then I'll make it as clean and usable as I can. At the end of the day I just want to ride a powervalve.
