Thinking about it there could be loads of head gasket problems but you would never no unless your on long runs at high speeds, what is the problem with pattern head gaskets?

Had 2 big rads made for mine and a mates bike ,both have had problems since can't understand why such a small amount of water can make such a difference,if you want one making steve I can give you the number of the bloke who made mine just post him an old standard rad he makes them look brand new.

Thanks folks ,just got home long ride today, only had to top up with water once in 400 miles, took your tip ravedaddy and monitored the expansion tank levels, managed to drain it with a couple of straws ,but it continued to fill up slowly at continues high speed so it looks like as you all said a head gasket leak,it seems odd that my mate and I both went for big rad conversions thinking it would be benifitial in hotter weather and both had head gasket problems!

Jeez that was quick, thanks gentlemen! Fitted a big rad for a continental trip. Thought about head gasket when the thermostat trick didn't work but ther is no scuzz in the filler cap & no sign of oil in the water. Temp gauge shows low so Thought the rad might be keeping everything so cool that the bypass hose might be pressurizing the system to the point where the cap opened & dumped coolant into the exp tank. Hadn't thought of the tank capacity issue. In Calais & facing a slow ride home!

Hi all, I'm having a problem after fitting a big (32mm core) rad to my F2. On long runs it fills the expansion tank to overflowing. I've removed the thermostat because I thought it might not be hot enough to open but problem persists at speeds over 70. I'm fed up of getting soaked and so are the people riding behind me, anyone had anything similar?

Yeah gear box oil never thought of that, was going to take a few liters of 2t to use on the way just in case it wasn't easy to find, plugs and clutch cable are on the spares list.

Hi just bought some race type pipes of eBay to try to fit to 31k,they were advertised as lc250'350,but have been told they will fit with a little messing, what main jetting changes would be best to make, cheers Chris.
